Death Stroke, well that was a waste of a skill point

I had a few spare skill points so I though that I'd try out the Death Stroke Ultimate, unfortunately it seems to do very little.

According to the tool tip it was about 385 damage + up to 275% Ultimate Charge (whatever that means). It reality it hardly seems to scratch an opponent, I don't seem to be getting critical hits or stuns and it only effects a single opponent; using it from stealth seems to do nothing extra either.

Soul Tether on the other hand (siphoning ultimate) does close to 500 points of damage to all opponents in range whilst stunning them and tethering an opponent.

I can't think why I'd ever want to use Death Stroke; am I missing something?

Death stroke is not that great but develop it into incapacitating strike which is one of the really good ultimates.

It cannot get sneak attack bonus but that is before when it could you could sneak attack targets for 4500+ damage with it!

You have to learn to use it right. Against dungeon bosses what you do is that you start by using veiled strike to stun them for 4.6 seconds, once they recover you hit incapacitating strike and stuns them again and then you shadow cloak and stun them again at which point you will probably have generated the 50 ultimate points to use incapacitating strike again.

In pvp it is a free turn around when someone gets the jump on you that will cost you no stamina or magicka and stun your enemy back instantly!

Personally I love it. In pvp I've crit for up to 1600 with it. Of course that's with some setup. Using max ult and following a teleport strike, which increases the damage of your next attack.

Besides that I think it is still good just for the fact that you can use it with only 50 ult. The knockdown is great too, you just have to make sure that your target has more hp than you.

This Is from the perspective of someone who does a lot of solo pvp. Your mileage may vary.

It only takes 50 ultimate to use which means you can use it more frequently. Since you can store up to 1000 ultimate, any amount you have over 50 increases the amount of damage it does. With the Soul Harvest morph, having it slotted also increases the rate in which you acquire Ultimate. I slot it for that purpose since that means I can use Veil of Blades more frequently.
