for me the main story line, shouldn't be allowed to abandon, like a safety, but yeah harborage is a good place to find it again

Go to your main city. The prophet should come and give you the quest.
    Because I can!

As far as I knew you can't abandon it, certainly people have complained the couldn't when they got stuck in Castle of Worms and the like due to their having trouble killing the boss to end it.

Do you remember what the quest was called, or who you got it from?

As others have said, it's not possible to abandon the Main Story, but completing one of these quests doesn't give you the next one straight away; you get a new quest from The Prophet at levels 3, 10, 15, 20, 25... when you enter a main city.

If you've abandoned an Alliance Story quest (the main quest chain through a zone), you should be able to pick it up again from the same place you got it before.

Yeah, but all you have to do there is log out, play an alt for a bit, then when you log back in, you're in the harborage.

But you shouldn't be able to abandon the main, after all it's supposedly the whole point of the game. I would be amazed if the OP actually has abandoned it, I wonder if he's abandoned part of the Faction storyline, if so all he can do is go back to the quest giver and hope.

I supposed we should ask the OP what level he is now, he may not qualify for the next one.

Yes I know, I simply mentioned it as one of the several reasons I didn't think the main story could be abandoned.

hmm i think he may be refering to the main faction quest (i could and probably am wrong) but anyways go to the last place where you did your last quest and there should be a black/blue arrow above the head of an npc

No worries. The fate of the mortal world rests in your hands.

This alone will prevent the prophet from leaving you alone. He usually shows up around the time you port in from another wayshrine.

The main quest, specifically, has certain triggers that do not (initially) require your interaction. (Read that as 'they'll come find you.)

When you abandon a quest, it essentially resets it - it doesn't go away forever.

So, you can contact CS if you like. Better yet, you should be able to just go about questing and it will retrigger the same way it did the first time.

I do understand the heart dropping feeling, though. It would have been nice had they explained that abandoning a quest is usually not as harsh and permanent as it sounds.

    Good luck!
