Sometimes when an area is loading one of those tutorials comes up that says crafters can use materials in their bank at crafting stations BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE.

My blacksmith has to have the items in his Inventory and so does my Alchemist and Enchanter.

If we < could > use items in the bank, as it says, it would make life a heck of a lot easier.
If I wanted a Signature I would have a Signature --- but i don't want one so I don't have one.

I keep all my mats in the bank, never had an issue at any crafting station.

@Mujuro has a point though...... you aren't talking about a Guild Bank are you?

    Cos that wouldn't work :D

Are you confusing Guild Bank? That you can't do, otherwise should work fine. There are some add-ons (item saver) that can hide items in the bank to avoid accidental use.

When you craft. / deconstruct etc. You should see a little icon and a number in the upper right corner of the item popup. A chest is in the bank, and a bag is in your bags. You can have some of both so it could say 3 bank 13 bags. etc. not sure which ones it uses first.

I use those icons to make sure I don't decon stuff I need for research, but it can be tricky if you pass things form char to char using bank.

I have several mules that I use for holding materials for various things. One for blacksmithing, one for alchemy, one for enchants etc. etc.

If my character has NO mats for a particular craft, say blacksmithing, in his Inventory only in the BANK ( not Guild Bank --- I'm well aware of the difference ) and he goes to the blacksmithing station --- he cannot make ANYTHING.

He HAS to have the items in his Inventory or he cannot craft.

Same for my Enchanter and Alchemist and Cook.
Those are the only crafts I've tried to use. Since I wear heavy armor I haven't fooled with the clothier or woodworking stations except to deconstruct items to sell them.

I wonder why MY characters have to have everything they want to craft with in Inventory but others can use out of their Banks.

Even more than that, I wonder how I can get it fixed -- if it is broken.
    If I wanted a Signature I would have a Signature --- but i don't want one so I don't have one.

I do that all the time..

I put items in my bank for another character to research.. then next day or something i start deconstructing stuff on another character and decon them all without thinking...

Just to make sure, you do realize the items have to be in the shared bank, not in the inventory of the mules, right? Anything the mules take out of the bank is no longer "in the bank" (since it's in the mule's personal inventory) and therefore cannot be used.

If that's not the problem, then that's very odd, since you seem to be the only one that it is broken for. Maybe try to contact a GM?

Item Saver. Best addon ever for preventing this type of thing. :)

Then YOU need to bug report it that YOU can't because everyone I know, including me, can. It's not remotely a lie, just likely a bug with you specifically.

Never had that problem. Never heard of anyone having that problem.

You need to send a in-game bug report ...

Research Assistant add-on is your big friend. Shows which items are to research and which can be sold or deconstructed. Also if set up properly will tell cross characters.

Well, this afternoon, my toon was able to cook with banked items, but so far ( unless it changed since the last time I tried ) my toon couldn't blacksmith without the items in his Inventory.

Yes, I am aware that my mules have to have the items in the shared bank ... not their Inventory.

What I usually do is have my main toon dump everything except a bit of food for his quickslots and then I go to the mule I need and have them deposit everything in their Inventory in the Bank ( shared bank ) then my main toon withdraws them from the bank and goes to a crafting table.

Every time -- or near every time :) --- I return from a Questing I have my toon dump everything into the Bank then I go mule by mule and have them Withdraw everything in their specialty.

It's very time consuming because of all the logging in and out of characters.

I direly need an add-on that would take every thing in a designated craft from the Bank and put it in the proper character's Inventory without all that logging in and out changing toons.

As soon as I can I'm going to try alchemy and blacksmithing again. Unfortunately, real life intrudes and I must reluctantly do real life things for awhile :(

    If I wanted a Signature I would have a Signature --- but i don't want one so I don't have one.

What level of metal are you wanting to use, and what is your Metalworking skill? You can only see materials that are available to your current skill level, determined by number of points that you have in Metalworking. So with Metalworking 1, you'll only be able to work with Iron, and won't see any Steel, for example.

Actually you can see stuff you can't process at the moment simply by ticking the option just below the different tabs in the Crafting window. The stuff you can't work with at your level (as in skill level, not character level, mind you) is colored red.
Simply look at the screenshot, right option (german cause I'm too lazy to change client language just because of a screenshot)

I don't know what happened but yesterday my blacksmith was able to craft using banked materials and he had never been able to do that before!!

Maybe the last patch fixed something so it worked for me. Don't know why I had that problem and others didn't.

I haven't tried all the crafts yet, but blacksmithing and cooking are the most important for me so I'm happy now ... as long as it lasts.

I had tried it many times and was very frustrated because it wasn't doing what the game said it would do. But, anyway, it's working now.

I also do not have the issue, never had since beta/early access.
I can craft with materials in the bank.
I can deconstruct stuff stored in the bank.
I can start research with the stuff stored in the bank.

Have you tried a repair scan?

Are you certain you are not mistaking the GUILD BANK or the tooltips provided by addons over other characters inventories with your bank?

Some addons are able to automaticlyl transmit materials between mules, target charactes and the bank when you hit it. Are you perhaps mistaking that funcionality for the bank?

Are you certain ou are just not lacking the skill to work with that Tier material after a respec? (what level you can craft is tied to skill point investment).

All those make a million times more sense then only you being unable to craft with materials from your bank.
