something some of us were discussing in zone chat about future buildings in ESO

some of us in zone chat were chatting about merchant stalls/stores that people or guilds could rent space that way wouldn't have just a bunch of empty space that people purchased and left to waste away. The areas could be in the larger cities or Zos could just create "merchant" cities for people setup in.

Not only that but people that do provisioning could be able to setup up pubs/inns that could cater food, drinks, and entertainment.

what are peoples thoughts? also things to add?

thought about the "renting" idea could be put towards housing too. That way it would perhaps help to keep those people who buy the space and then do nothing with it. Maybe charge a "rent" for size of land or size of the house, if its land maybe zos could put a resource(s) you could farm to help subsidize the cost of the rent.

I don't think it should be rent. I don't wanna lose my place just because I was too busy to long on for a few days and din't make enough money. However I think they should do something like that with housing. Instead of doing housing in an instance that only the player can see or that their friends come upon make new zones that would have the housing. So you would just walk into the zone and all players houses would be there. Then the player can buy a plot and build a house. Would essentially make our own towns. that would be pretty awesome. Maybe people who gain emperor in PVP could build keeps and guilds could build castles. So you would have your guild castle along with player houses. Then the Devs could name the city or you'd just buy plots in whatever city they make.

A good housing system always implies player shops. Question is just when we get housing at ESO :(

A year or two. not high up on their radar. They are probably still in pre production phases of it.

Id rather see an AH, otherwise we will see monopolies with rented, purchased or allocated shops.
At least the spelling is difficult for you.

not if you allow one shop per account and per guild, the rent would be say a monthly thing you have lets say thirty days to pay a set amount that way gives you enough time to pay the rent. Plus it makes it so that people who want a house and use a house will use it, not just buy one because its the new in game toy and then never touch it after a month or so. but I really liked the idea about being able to see other players houses like a town or suburb area. Heck it'd make it really interesting about races and their houses. Not to mention your neighbors lol Argonians living next to dark elves, or have races segregated.

the merchant stalls keep it so that there is still player interaction (which I could be wrong was one of the reasons why Zos didn't do AH another people so that market would get out of hand). Plus with the rent it'll force prices to be at least set somewhat so that you can well make rent.

lol perhaps if they ever allowed player inns the provisions could have drinks that gave toons a "drunk" feeling and in the inns/pubs would could allow player duels or something for "bar" fights  oh oh oh oh I know I'm not supposed to talk about it......but.....maybe fightclubs?!

I like this idea. It would be nice to have a shop to sell things that I specialize in. Maybe you could name the shop to get peoples attention.

I was thinking the same thing too, also they could have say a large selection of designs of letters and pictures you could choose from to create your own sign or pennant for your shop

well looks like its going to be an auction house, but perhaps we can get stores/stalls in a few years when they had housing hopefully

There are already plans to put stalls in the next patch. Just not exactly fully player ran stalls.

Traders: The Gold Coast Trading Company will establish kiosks throughout the cities of Tamriel. The merchants running the kiosks can be hired by guilds on a weekly basis (via auction) to act as a portal to their guild’s store, which can be browsed by any player in the guild’s alliance. Auctions use a blind bidding process and are held once a week per merchant.

Actually it is at least two years away.

I think it'll work, sounded good on the road ahead. It will be really interesting to be able to shop in other peoples' guilds and see what they've found and created. From way it sounds seems like it will really help out trade guilds

Yeah that's what one of them said. Can't remember whether it was Sage or Firor. But there is also a high demand for it so they may push it up. Depends whether or not they are already kicking ideas around or not.

That sounds totally like SWG, and that would be awesome! With the way the map is setup, I don't think player towns will be able to be setup that way unfortunately...

I hope that I do not ever have to see another players house. That would be forcing me to group up at a time I might want to be playing solo. I hope houses exist only on the load screen or some such. Banks are already awful places that you pretty much have to go to, can't imagine what it would be like at the entry point of the housing area.

How come they wouldn't be able to be setup that way?

you know I was thinking like TOR and the guild ship/strongholds....maybe when they finally do, do housing could have guild keeps and player houses around there.....and guild shops in the city??? ......though that might take up a lot of space and have a lot of useless cities
