some of the current changes to this boss have made the current video guides obsolete. they suggest leading him around the room to minimize the fire effect. this doesn't work as he can only be taunted three times.

my question is what it the current plan of attack now? my group has tried multiple times and have failed miserably. purging the fire buff effect only works part if the time.

There's confirmation in the PTS area of the forum that apparently the 3 taunts = immunity thing always existed, it was only added to the tips recently. I did it in a group last week and it went down pretty much as usual.

I've never found the immunity to taunts to happen for me. I did that dungeon today and had no issue leading him around the room while my team attacked him.

so you are able to taunt him more than three times. interesting.

That taunt debuff wears off over time so you can taunt again. I did this boss last night and it was really fun for me! I am a tank, always have been, and that fight was def one of my favorites!
Here's the deal: As a tank kite very, very slowly around very outer edge of room. I mean slow! Step just barely out of fire and make sure when he drops the next it is overlapping the last one he just dropped. Lead him around the room like this and let the dps kill him. Tank should be focusing on were he is going, taunting, and self healing when needed. keep doing this and he is easy.
BTW if you are having a hard time on him he is far easier than the next couple of bosses in there. Good luck and have fun!

edit: can't stress enough the need to overlap the fire rings and move slow. key to victory.

I agree with @Badh0rse, the overlapping fire works exceptionally well. This fight IMO is really dependent on the tank controlling the path of where the fire gets laid. We never found this fight that hard as it mimics several in Lotro, pretty much the same tactics we used there we use on this boss. On the other hand, The boss with the flying blue orbs and the waves of adds sucks hard Damn Clamfears and their 2.5k tail strikes hurt...... Stick and move

OMG right! That boss is a bit of a nightmare, I would have loved to have some more CC on that fight.
