NA & EU Server Merge?

Is it getting close to the time to merge the EU server into the NA one? Not much point of even having an 'EU' server if it is actually here in NA.

Of course, they still might actually set up a server system in the EU, but I think with every passing week that becomes less and less likely.

But, we shall see.

It will transit to an environment in the EU. German Community manager already said they are already testing it in a EU Datacenter.

Pls dont merge. That would mean we europeans get stuck on a overseas server and the murricans will just have advantage over us in pvp and even in PvE (trials) Hell no. dont merge !

We want the native connection lag to go away!

I think that having an EU server would be better for EU players, of course.

The real question is, do they still have the EU subscriptions to justify the expenditure for hardware, staff, and ongoing support over there?

Don't know as we will ever know until they either do, or do not, set one up.

I see where you come from

Its not that bad on the "EU" Servers atm. Theres still a good chunk of players in the leveling zones. Its gettin thin on VR12s though. at least it feels like it.

Even though this doesn't affect me in the slightest, I'm completely against a server merge.

Having their server located in the US is not good for our fair European players. Why should they have to deal with latency issues that we don't? How would you feel if our server was moved to the UK instead?

Uh, their server IS already in the US. It has never been moved to the EU.

And we feel the distance to the server! Its a total lagfest in Cyrodiil, it ever was, and even in pve content you suffer from it. You move out of red stuff on the ground but you still get hit, even if you are like 2 meters away from it.

Yeah, and if they merged the server like OP is asking, it would stay in the US. My point isn't that the merge would move the server to the US, my point is that the merge would tether it here, and EU players would have to deal with the lag indefinitely.

Some folks just have no concept for how certain things are difficult. It's not like the EU server is a single PC tower sitting in ZoS's basement waiting for one of their interns to get cleared through Homeland Security to travel overseas to place it down in somebody else's basement. It takes time, and LOTS of money. They have to purchase or lease space in a foreign country that is central enough to the base of players and has a server farm that's not some shoddy start up that's going to go down every time the wind blows. There's lots of research to be done in choosing reputable companies to host the servers. They ARE moving the servers closer to EU, but it takes time, just like everything else in the world takes time.

NO, they shouldn't merge servers.

I really hope they reach a point where they can merge the EU and NA server and introduce an Asia server. But merge all of them so that you will connect to which ever server is the closest, but allows everyone to play together. Creating a virtual global megaserver.
