Maybe create an off topic subject for the forums (warning wrote this a little heated)

first before I blow some steam off I don't blame the moderators or anything they are just doing their job.

BUT! I just created a thread for people post about books they liked and share with the ESO COMMUNITY! you know something to MAKE US a community, something POSITIVE. Instead of reading the p***ing contests going on between everybody about how this game is running or lack of running, the constant bombardment of negativity you having going on in your general forum community.

so maybe you might want to bring up in your next [snip] staff meeting creating an off-topic forum so that those of us who do enjoy ESO don't have to stay away from the forums because of all the same stupid crap being posted about the same stupid things every fricking hour!

I'll tell you what I support this game and believe that it is a great game not because I'm an Elderscrolls fan (because I'm not) but because I like what the MMO has to offer and what its potential is and I'll back up and support Zenni (by my sub'ing). But closing down a thread that was positive and place where others who do sub can come together talk and share, is [snip] that I don't support and have no problems walking away from. It may have been against the rules, but you might want to weigh that against what you might gain from it (something to think about there).

as to Whisper292 on your Order of the White I plan to head over to Amazon and check it out right now cause the book sounded something right up my alley and THANK YOU. As to the others I plan on checking out that Myth series and the Immortal Circus.

When asked what he would do for a Klondike bar. Grand Moff Tarkin said "why I would blow up Alderaan."

While I enjoyed the thread you are referencing, it is against policy to have non ESO related threads here on the forums. IT is also against the CoC to discus disciplinary action by the mods on these forums. :)

I'm gonna give some unasked advice. When dealing with things internet..type what you want to say in Word or something. Go a way a few hours or sleep on it. If you still feel it is a good idea to post it...game on.

Otherwise realize that the internet gives us a great opportunity to think and rethink what we say. Though I see your frustration one mistake doesn't help another. Good luck.

I didnt read the rant, but I agree that every mmo forums should have an OT area for discussing books, movies, youtube vids, etc. An mmo is more than game. Its also a social hub.

I was kind of under the impression that was what our "General" Discussions forum was for, seems that would be a no though.

Zenimax has stated that General discussion is for discussing the game, mainly when other categories don't fit the subject.

The problem with Off-Topic discussions is they generally get heated very quickly.

Mind you the forums would probably benefit if Zenimax allowed threads to change their focus. I still remember some extremely excellent threads on the Swtor forums that diverted from the original topic, meandered through several other topics, but still produced meaningful discussions that enriched the forums.

These forums lack these broad-topic threads and their evolving discussions, more's the pity.

As much as I love my home away from home over there, it won't really help the OP share his passions with the ESO community.

Yeah, I figured that out awhile back. When they had announced a GD area, I was hoping we could have a bit of a fun area where we could talk about things not directly linked to the game, just so we could get more of that feeling of community. While we may not agree with one another on something game related, we could both love mudding and 4x4ing. (not talking of you specifically) which in the end could actually help squash a lot of this nattering that seems to go on. Cest la vie.

While I think we would probably all disagree just as much about other subjects, I do agree that it would probably enrich the forums. Heck it would enrich the forums if the mods allowed threads to change focus and have evolving discussions, but ah well, nevermind.

This exactly. In an off-topic forum it often becomes a nightmare to control the topics that are spoken about. Usually speaking of religion gets heated very quickly. So does politics, nationalism and other beliefs. Even opinions about music, books and what not can be sometimes controversial. I would estimate that adding an off-topic section to the forum would increase the need of forum moderation by at least 100%.
