Latency problems all over

Not FPS LAG but some serious network issues.

I've been playing on and off for the past few days and whenever I'm out and about in the world or running into a town, I hit an immense wall of latency and NETWORK lag. I've got a decent connection that has never had a problem running any other MMO or any online game or anything like that. But soon as I hop into ESO and have had a huge problem with lag from the network and talking back and forth. This gets worse as I tend to browse the web and such but even before that it's difficult because I'm having issues seeing mobs and getting attacked by completely nothing while unable to attack back with anything but AoEs.

Can anyone else confirm issues with things not loading quickly enough or having general issues in combat/exploration?

I haven't had much network lag. Some server lag apparently but the game is playable 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time the keystrokes are seriously lagged as well as character movement and reaction. Sometimes I find myself dead when it gets back to normal. But I still have hundreds of grand soul gems thanks to anomaly farming last month so /shrug. If you think it is network lag, you can run pathping to help pinpoint where the problem is. Right now you are just guessing.

I guess I should have been more clearer here. I'm having the issues you described but that's what I meant was server lag/network lag. Problems between the server reaching me and my keys and actions then all of a sudden being dead. I was talking to a friend though and he seems to be having the same problems.

I experience problems like this too. Now, mind you, my internet connection isn't the best out there, but it's quite noticeable when this happens.

Usually, it happens during the late night hours when not many people would be on, so it's a bit confusing.

I had major issues on a pre-VR char in Deeshan this morning myself. At the same time, I had no issues with other characters in Deeshan & Malabal Tor, and other zones. I am assuming that what I was encountering was a single instance of a server instance that was having issues processing/communicating. Keystrokes would get enacted minutes later, chat not working, etc. The characters where things wee fine, were all fine, with no issues of any kind. So, not my network, not their network in any widespread kind of way. Same addons for all chars on my end, etc.

I went back to that character after feeding the rest of the equestrian fleet and it was all fine again. i guess I just had to wait to get her put in to an instance of a server that was not having issues.

198.20.200.41- Was part of the server I was on so I did as the person above suggested and did a PathPing in Wonders command prompt. Yes, Wonders, because sometimes you wonder why the hell you didn't know of that in the first place.

Here is a link to the above IP and the info on a horribly ugly site. http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?ip=198.20.200.41

Here are my results, maybe someone can help translate it.

Mind you this is one run, I've decided to do another, and what it looks like is at hop 5, there is a 100% packet loss, so every link after that is a 100% loss as well. Now I'm not going to pretend I understand what I am looking at, but maybe it will help somewhere.

NOTE: Did the pingpath again, same packet loss at hop 5 or 38.10.8.225

Using path ping or ping is not a determination of connectivity, its just a test diagnostic. For example you can ping a web site even though the web site itself us down.

if the routers/ gateways are blocking icmp destination unreachabe and time exceeded icmp codes, then you will see those drops even though you can connect to services behind them.

sometimes lag just happens due to saturated links from your ISP to the cdn or other infrastructure services. You can thank Netflix and others for saturating the ISP peering points.

"Here in his shrine, that they have forgotten. Here do we toil, that we might remember. By night we reclaim, what by day was stolen. Far from ourselves, he grows ever near to us. Our eyes once were blinded, now through him do we see. Our hands once were idle, now through them does he speak. And when the world shall listen, and when the world shall see, and when the world remembers, that world will cease to be. - Miraak
