Reloaded my UserSettings.txt

I recently had some problems after last patch about quests and XP that did not visually update. Also major lag at times and NPC not loading in some zones. I got killed by mobs I did not see etc. So I reloaded my UserSettings.txt under C:\Users\.............\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\liveeu by just rename it to OldUserSettings.txt and restarted the game, and it fixed everything! If any of you guys out there are experience the same problems as me I strongly advice you to try the same.

Can someone explain why this would do anything? What is the concept behind this?
The only substitute for victory is overkill.

There is no concept behind this, hey this is ESO. The Usersettings.txt is holding a lot of configuration information about your video preferences but also other settings which can not be altered through the ui. There is also a thread about tweaking settings for performance on this forum:

Deleting usersettings.txt fixes things since back in the beta days. For example there was a bug with an endless loading screen when entering cyrodiil which got fixed by that. Why ? You should never ask that question with that game, just be happy if it helps.

The Cyrodil infinite loading screen was not fixed by deleting the UserSettings.txt

I dont know where you heard that from, but that is not true at all.

I had a headache yesterday. It ended at 9 pm.

    9 pm does heal headaches?

In the beta it did get fixed 100% because i was experiencing this bug ahhh sorry this feature back in the days. So just because you did not experience it does not mean it did not work...........

The infinite load issue was resolved by deleting the ZO_Ingame.lua file. That should no longer be needed.

I have not monitored the UserSettings.txt but maybe there is a limitation on the file size? Does the file size grow with each session?
