FPS dropping to nothing.

Occasionally, when I'm in an battle, a sudden and intense burst FX display will freak the game out and drop my FPS from 60+ all the way down to a studdering 5-10 FPS. Kind of a real problem because it happens during big battles. So I can attempt to limp along and finish (which usually gets me killed) or I have to remove myself from the battle and shut the game down completely which solves the problem.

Now before you ask, I am running a new system with Win 7 pro 64 bit, 16 gigs of ram and a top of the line GTX 780 card. It's not my system.

This used be a once every couple weeks occurrence but since the patch it has done it twice to me already.

I have the same problem for the first time I play this game.

First let me say that I decided to play TESO because in my opinion it had a very good performance in massive PvP battles. The best performance I saw since I played DAoC. Warhammer, AION, Rift and others did far, far worse.

I play in 1920*1200 with all settings at maximum. My hardware is Nvidia GTX 680, Intel i7-3770, 16 GB RAM. Driver is up to date (no beta driver, WHQL certified). The hardware and its settings are not tweaked in any way. Usually I have in Cyrodiil 60+ fps while running through this beautiful landscape, dropping to 25-30 fps in smaller skirmishes and 18-20 fps in large battles. The lowest fps I ever encountered was 15.

Since patch 1.2.3 the fps drop drastically if I only come near to any combat. With smaler skirmishes now the fps are 15-25 (down from 25-30) and in massive battles, keep sieges or so it is 5-12 (down from 18-20). Minimal fps was 2 (!). I emphasize that I didn't change anything on the system, neither hardware nor software prior to or after this patch.

I then deactivated ALL addons whatsoever, restarted the game and played PvP for an hour. The framerate was the same as with the addons. So it can't be the addons what is decreasing the fps.

I hope that this information will help you in any way and I hope that you will find the problem soon, because this is taking the last fun out of PvP!

Subscription cancelled due to the following facts:

    - Zenimax implements more bugs from patch to patch
    - Zenimax does not care about the increasing instability of the game. People have more and more crashes Fix of memory bug decreased number of crashes considerably
    - Zenimax has still not fully fixed the fps drops they (!) implemented with patch1.2.3
    - Zenimax does nothing to fix the massive ability lags in PvP
    - Zenimax gives more attention to unnecassary 'content' like dyes for armors than fixing issues
    - In patchnotes Zenimax lies about bugs allegedly fixed
    - Zenimax has no plan as to how balance population in Cyrodiil campaigns
    - Support is ineffective and does not even speak in a way one can linguistically understand

This is happening to me also. I checked the video settings & they were jacked all the way up across the board. Adjusting now but stuck in infinite loading screen when I tried to change graphical settings. Will reboot & update.

Same pb here. Patch 1.2.3 in cause I guess.

Paying for an unplayable (PVP) game is not enjoyable...

PvP should be at an exciting pitch right now, with the reset, and instead half my group needs to close down after every battle because of the fps issue. Can we get some attention to this please? Heh.

This is a HUGE problem. I have a "decent" (middle of the line) computer that should be able run the game, even with quite a few people around me, fairly well. When my frames inevitably suddenly drop in Cyrodiil, they stay that way until I die. Which is often quickly because no one can play on 6 fps and do anything. I have an AMD CPU and have heard that ESO runs terribly on AMD. Whether or not this is true, this problem needs fixing. There will be no point to a balanced campaign (was on Dawnbreaker just now, all three pops a 2+) if it doesn't run well when all three factions have forces on it.

Many people are getting this - except for me who gets a massive 2 FPS in large battles, and there it stays until I logout of zone into a different zone.

I'm having similar issues. I run a GTX760, i5 w/16Gb ram. Pre-patch my fps was a consistent 50-60, now, standing around doing nothing, whether in town or in a zone by myself, the fps is 22-28 and in dungeons it drops to <10 on boss fights.
    Almost at the unplayable stage.

Pretty sure it has to do with bad coding linked to the lighting. No one cared about lighting. Get rid of it.

Well after a number of patches, this issue has still not been resolved for me. I have tried lowering settings, turning on VSync, and other suggestions and....nothing. One would think you should be able to run large scale battles on ultra-high settings on a top of the line system but such is not the case.

What's even more frustrating is, I have 16GB of ram and a 3GB FX card but when I get an FPS drop I look and the game is only sucking 1.8gigs of all that RAM. Why the hell isn't your game taking advantage of ALL of my resources?

I've also recently been getting out of game, "failure to load data" popup windows from ESO itself. Really sucks when I get them during combat and it minimizes the game for this #$%$@!@# window.

    FIX YOUR DAMN GAME Zenimax.

For some people (me included) turning off sound works as a temporary workaround. Seems to massively reduce delays associated with the bug, and improves fps somewhat. Turn on npc subtitles if you want to hear what they say. Made the game playable for me til a real fix comes along.
