So ive been reading around and I see a lot of posts about every one being able to pick any race in any alliance can we confirm this as I thought it was only people who preordered the game and got the explorers pack that had this option and the imperials of course . SO can some one who did not preorder and or get the explorers pack confirm that this in fact was changed and that now every person preorder or not can now pick any race in any alliance??

srsly? my brother got pre-order and he was able to make any race on any alliance. If they are going back on their word they are breaking some sort of clause in the fine print.

that's what im getting at if they did infact change this so any one can now be any race in any alliance then WTF that was the main reason I went and preordered the game it was not for the Crab I already had the monkey from beta its wasn't for the treasure maps cause honestly their not even worth it most the items give from the map chest are plain old blues with out any traits and only good for decon and by the the time you get to use them your current gear is better

Because you could have used it on 30.3. ;) I didnt even know they changed it now.

I couldnt have done a Khajit NB and a Dunmer DragonKnight on 30.3. on Daggerfall if it wasnt for the Explorer Pack. If they just would have added it later without the pack i am not even sure i would have done a new character by then.

Actually it doesnt even matter. You preordered anyway and got that other stuff for free on top of it. so who cares ;) All the Imperial boni are still imperial edition only. And thats fine i guess.

I really have no idea what half of this means or what your talking about 30.3. ??? are you talking about march 30th WTF does that have to do with my question all I want to know is if in fact Zos went back and changed the game so any person explorers pack or not can now select any race on any alliance I don't give two ***** about the rest of the explorers pack bonus material as I said above most of it was just garbage and just fluff for the pack the only thing good in it was the ability to pick any race in any faction

    Omg, just chill.......

People can still upgrade to imperial to get the perks that is not available on the standard version - it doesn't matter if they pre order or not. So if they bought the standard version, upgraded last week, they can play in any alliance with whatever race they choose.
I thought it was only people who preordered the game and got the explorers pack

No. Read the fine print: They have the option to UPGRADE and still get this perk.

I suspect there are just a lot of copies of the game with the explorers pack left over with retailers (physical and digital keys).

My sister bought the game from a retailer about two weeks after launch and still got it.

The explorer's pack and Imperial edition are completely seperate.

So no, upgrading to imperial does not unlock any race in any alliance.

Incorrect, they have the option to upgrade to the imperial edition, not the explorer pack. The imperial edition allows you to make an imperial on any alliance, not the other races. The explorer pack allow you to make any of the other races on any alliance. The explorer pack is only available from preorders and left over codes from preorders.

So if they suddenly went against their own words and made it available to non preorders, then there is problem.

Please, tell me where the fine print is stating you get the option to choose any race in any alliance.

The pre-order bonus was Early Access and the Explorer's Pack:
    • Choose any race in any alliance
    • Scuttler Pet
    • Treasure Maps

    As quoted from https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/storefaq
    What was the Explorer’s Pack?
When players pre-purchased the game through the ESO Store or pre-ordered at any participating retailer, they were then eligible to receive the Explorer's Pack, a digital bundle that included:
    • The ability for the player's characters to join any alliance, no matter which race you choose
    • The Scuttler, a tiny but loyal vanity pet
    • Bonus treasure maps that will lead the player to loot
With the launch of the game, this featured promotion has ended. It is no longer possible to receive the Explorer's Pack and the items it contained.

You can buy the Explorer code at a website called g2a. If you already have the Imperial edition, you'll have to submit a support ticket here and tell them you bought the code, and they will apply it to your account. They did this for me and I was very happy to get the pet Guar.

    You guys are right.

OP, my initial post is incorrect. However, there are available explorer's pack lying around (at least in NZ available for purchase from third party). This just means that there is availability to play in any alliance despite not having to pre order.

    I apologize for the confusion.

The play any race in any alliance was not a perk of the imperial edition or the explorer pack.

It was a perk specifically for those who pre-ordered the game. ZOS even confirmed it was for pre-orders only, however, it would not shock me if they went back on their word, as they they dont seem to be very competent. It could also be that there are a lot of pre-order codes/copies still floating around.

Is it possible to get the Explorer’s Pack if I don’t pre-order or pre-purchase a copy of the game?
    Updated 04/19/2014 05:57 PM Published 01/30/2014 07:08 PM
No. The Explorer's Pack is only available to customers that have chosen to pre-order or pre-purchase the game. Although customers are able to upgrade their Standard Edition to the Imperial Edition, the Explorer's Pack is reserved only for customers that chose to pre-order or pre-purchase The Elder Scrolls Online.

So there is sort of a problem with 3rd party retailers selling the codes and ZoS honoring them. I am sure they have a clause somewhere reserving the right to change their minds, but its bad business, and it goes against their official policy.

Only half right. It was a perk of the explorer pack which is what the preorder gave you.

Oh, ok. Yea, cause I remember I placed a support ticket about wanting the monkey, and they said it wouldn't be fair to the beta testers but the representative also said he personally liked the pet Guar. That's why I called it that.

What do you want to hear?

It's a feature of the Explorer's Pack that was part of the pre-order package .. and nothing to do with the Imperial race option which is in the CE .. ZOS have never made it available outside of that as far as I know and since no one has posted here that doesn't have the EP I think it's probably safe to assume ZOS haven't done so.

As others have said, many EPs were in the 'channel' after launch and ZOS decided to honour those for players who buy them.

Based on lore? I thought the alliances were something made-up for ESO.

I chose Daggerfall Covenant because I like Bretons. I know you can make any race for any alliance, but it just didn't sit well to have my Breton in either of the others.

here is just one I managed to find fairly quickly but I know I read a few other comments of similar nature that lead me to think zos removed the race alliance restrictions but you prob right @fromtesonlineb16_ESO since no one has spoken up that does not have the EP
