Do you feel like a betatester in ESO?

Only one facet of the game strongly reminds me of betas, both this one and many others. The guild bank and store interface and lack thereof. I'm really very surprised at why this hasn't been front burnered, it punches above its weight class in terms of making the game feel not just unfinished but beta-like.

It is the glaring area, for me. There are others, but it stands out.

I cannot imagine how console users will navigate these systems without intense frustration.

I agree. We are paying them for a beta game for sure and they know it. They are laughing at use all the way to the big bank!

    Blackwidow,
It sounds like ESO might not be the game for you! Why don't you go back to Wow or whatever game you feel is better than ESO. I don't see a single omission from your list above that adds meaningful content to the game. Maybe you should spend a little more time playing the game, or move on, instead of complaining.

No. ESO is definitely not feeling like a Beta to me. In the beta, I didn't feel a sense of permanent progression or consequences to my actions or the different things that the Devs had us testing. With live, every action, be it player made or dev made, has a definite weight and purpose to it. It maintains the feel of a game that is going somewhere- of a world that is constantly evolving and changing.

It's refreshing to see that in a game where as so many others (Be they single player or MMOs) often times just try to have "Everything" in at once, and only offer small expansions to the existing content afterwards.

If you're playing an OP DK or Sorc, your likely happy as you are still relevant to trials etc.

Try playing a Templar from Beta!

Zenimax hates Templars or doesn't care... no other plausible explanation for leaving the class with broken resource mechanic and worst sustained DPS from Beta to present!

Its like a nightmare, I wish this was beta, it would make sense but three months past Beta without sustained DPS and resource mechanic balance for all classes is ridiculous!

If you think this game is "like a beta" you should have seen the beta.

Come to think of it, have you ever seen a beta?

I have been playing mmo's ever since DAoC and I can tell you we are ALL beta testers. An MMO is an evolving entity. Most devs couldn't even dream of where their mmo's evolved to since their time of concept. I have never been in an mmo without bugs. It is going to happen, its how you deal with it that defines who and how you are.

And, WoW was literally 4 times the size (or more) of ESO when it released.

    What are you talking about?

Wow was NO WHERE NEAR the size of ESO. Auridon alone is the size of 3+ WoW zones, and that's just one zone of one faction.

One ESO faction is closer to the size of ALL of WoW at it's release.

OK, maybe that's a stretch... but if you add all 3 factions, its way bigger than WoW content and size wise on a 1 to 1 basis.

dont think anyone is or was expecting a flawless game from launch but some of these bugs like not being able to log in for days at a time, and major imbalances in classes and broken boss's that were all present in beta should have been addressed before the launch of the game, for some these are game breaking.

personally i will stick with eso for awhile longer to see what is done with some of these issues. i have already seen the population plummet especially in the Vet zones were it is now nearly imposable to get group dungeons done due to the lack of players.i can only hope some of our lost players return to the game once most of the larger issues are resolved.

All games have issues where groups of people can't patch, can't login, or have things that prevent them from playing. It's kind of a luck of the draw thing. All MMOs also have threads about how the developers are incompetent, the beta was too short, the game was released too early, xyz bugs should have been fixed by now, shortage of players, and so on.

So, basically.. no, I don't feel like I'm playing a beta anymore than past MMOs have felt like a beta version during launch. My definition includes the majority (not all) of people being able to log on, and get through quests in the game, level up, and experience content with ease. ESO seems to meet that criteria. The first six months or so of any MMO tends to house a lot of down time and tons of bug fixes, as well as learning how to deal with gold spammers and botters.

No silly, you were an Alpha tester in Beta. Now you are a Beta tester!

BTW, I've beta tested at least a dozen MMO's now, and I have to say, ESO had the most bugs and glitches of any of them.

At least the servers didn't crash or lock people out for days on launch. That's the only positive I can give them. The game itself was buggy as hell though.

I had an alt in STO that I could log into but couldn't get out of the space zone I was in for like 2 weeks. I just made an alt. and waited till they fixed. That char made the most ground dps of any I seen in that game. She is on youtube ground pvp as Renny. My point is, because its delayed it still wont ruin your plans, or enjoyment when maxed.

Technically that didn't really escalate until after launch though! When they made the game even more buggy with the first major content patch. Thought that was when that issue really exploded. Only a small percentage were effected by this at launch. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

I did get locked out of the game for 2 days though once when Cyrodil crashed I got stuck on "Loading Character Info..."

How long does a beta have to be before the devs start fixing some of the bugs the testers report?
So many bugs were missed or ignored, are you implying that there is some magic point in time where the devs decide to pay attention?

Edit: Guess I should have specified. While, yes, I do feel like it's beta still, there's nothing wrong with that. It's OPEN beta in my eyes. Most games aren't concrete even a year into play.

The game is further along than most MMO's at this time after release. Played a lot of them over the years and they ALL had problems after release, ESO seems to have less than most.

I have a pretty good computer and a good connection. So far the only real bugs I have had during game play since launch are minor. Game balance issues between classes are normal to every MMO and nothing unusual, hell some games that have been out for years are still trying to get it right.

With games getting ever more complex with increasing layers of detail added, it is very naive and unrealistic to expect a complete polished version after launch, or even within a year of launch.

It comes down to simple questions.

    Is it fun?
Do you feel like paying $15/month for that fun?

If no, then find something else, if yes then relax.
