Then I logged on and realized I wasn't having any fun. Easy, this isn't a 100% rampage post. One thing that bugged me was my character's armor. It's kinda ugly, I like cool armor, colors (how did you miss this?), and skin (I feel like im running around in a wet suit!). Why try to focus on realism, it's a fantasy game! Skyrim and Oblivion had some of the same problems but the aesthetics were totally modular! Can we mod our armor meshes?
I feel disconnected from the world. ALL OF YOUR NPCS ARE STALE. I'm sorry but as much as I hate Nazeem he was a character and didn't feel like an NPC, why didn't you learn from something like this. When you have a lot of boring NPCs I don't feel the need to listen to what they have to say.
I think the top two points subtract the most from my experience. But here is what I've enjoyed, and some more things that bugged me on the side.
I like the urgency with the combat, sometimes i'll fight 5 people and slay the last one in the nick of time, definitely rewards skill but is also noobable (good! I dont wanna die all the time).
Exploration is awesome sometimes. I can stop running in lines and wander off to explore somewhere and find something exciting. Things are beautiful and I kinda wish I had more bag space because I hate running back to the cities. For a while I had my 'new quest' map marker turned off in the settings. I realized quests are a lot more fun when you have to actually talk to people who look like they need help, instead of spotting the map marker and following it.
I love the skill and attribute system but I wish it worked more in my favor. So far I have customized two fighting styles, the bow and dual wield. I like both of these a lot but i've made some mistakes in my trees that make me gag when I look back. Money is hard to come by. Roleplaying hobo is as easy as resetting your skills or buying a horse.
Lastly, I like the crafting. I want to advance them all because they seem to have fantastic synergy. Craft some leather armor and enchant it! I run out of bag space!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is, in my opinion, the biggest problem to crafting. I feel compelled to stop leveling a crafting skill because I can't fit anything in my bags yet I would hate to have to come back and farm the stuff later. You have gazillions of things out there, lemme pick it all up!!! I can't advance woodworking because i'm stacking ore, leather, cloth, stones, enchanting mats, etc. 79/80 and searching hard to find something to trash. Merchant trips don't do the trick, I want to use stuff, not sell it! Bank trips seem to be the way to go right now.
I want to stick with this game really badly. I love the lore and the brand but the game doesn't quite do the trick.
If you made it this far then thanks for listening. What things do you like and don't like? I hand you the talking pillow.
Also, if you wanna troll, remember....... oh nevermind.
