Soft cap diminishing returns

Has anyone been able to test if the soft cap to hard cap diminishing returns is linear?
By which I mean….If the magicka soft cap is 2000 and the hard cap is 2200 putting a point is at 2000 gives the full 10 magicka putting a point in at 2200 gives nothing so putting a point in at 2100 should give 5 magicka if the curve is linear. But there’s no guarantee that this is the case. The curve might not be a straight line on a graph., which would dramatically change the effect of putting points in over the soft cap.
