Do we have a fail game or a fail community?

    Fail community
As much as I love this game it does have it's fair share of issues. I know it's still relatively new to the MMO world and it will take some time to fully polish but some of the patches and fixes really trashed the game for a while! Beyond that however, I have never seen a game where there are so many negative people just waiting to jump and slit your throat as soon as your comments or opinions don't meet theirs! If you follow the comments on FB and Twitter so many of the trolls and fanboys are so quick to tell you STFU and GTFO as soon as you say ANYTHING about the game! Even if it's a legitimate issue or concern there is not telling who will bash and bully just to defend the game like it's their sisters virginity! Come on people and pull together because I know I don't want to be associated with or stereotyped as the ESO community because I promise if you look on other MMO's sites they're already bashing us as a whole because of the trolls, fanboys and bullies that run rampant throughout the game!

For the risk of sounding rude, why do people who think this game is a failure read and post on these forums?

Why not go play the best mmo ever? Whatever the heck that is for them.

I use to play Neverwinter and there was one feature I absolutely loved. It was the player made dungeons. I really wish more games were open to such player input. It can do wonders for the longevity of the game.

But I don't think this game is a failure. I do think ESO falls in the category that many MMOs do. They need time to mature and they need to release with more end game content.

They face a staggering number of MMO games as competition. Many of them free to play. If you are going to ask your player base to pay a monthly subscription, you have to have the features in place to justify it. And frankly, ESO failed in the regard. They released with just as many, if not fewer, features in game than the average free-to-play game does.

Game needs improvement.. MMO players as a whole need improvement.. that particular problem isn't really specific to ESO. A ton of people playing MMOs these days actively don't want to group (almost ever). They end up being jerks together when they do group with random folks because something goes wrong (I've actually had a bit less of this being a problem in ESO compared to say..FFXIV). No one has patience anymore.

The game can always use improvement. No MMO is perfect, and patches and tweaks are always going to be needed.

I will say the in-game community is leaps and bounds better than the forum community though.

This community is similar to all the other communities i saw in MMOs , nothing new there.

If the game fails , has only to blame itself and its devs.

With that said , this game did not fail , yet , there is still time for a turn.

    Try asking like this:

Would the forums be more populated than the game, with players, if the game was at a standard that it could keep players attention?

These polls are dumb but thanks for making it less dribbly than the other topics today.

I started to say "Failed Game" but as I read the posts on this thread I changed my mind (see, I can change my mind)...

Every issue a game has starts with the Game, this game is no different, there are bugs, there are issues, there are things that would improve the game... and there are as many different opinions on how the issues should be fixed as there are posts about the issue...

There is the community, like every MMO community I have ever seen, the vocal minority come to the forums and point fingers at the other members of the vocal minority for pointing out what they perceive as a problem with the game when they disagree...

We all want all the problems we perceive fixed yesterday, we want all the new features we want implemented today, we want all those other issues we don't see ignored in favor of our perceived issues...

The "Suits" as it was stated before want boxes on shelves by a given date so they can recoup some of if not all of their investment, and that is a large investment, and while they don't want the game to fail, their major investment in the game is money.

The Development teams would love to have the time to fix every bug, dot every "i" and cross every "t" but the company has to have money to pay them... they would love to add a new feature that the game needs, but they are not afforded the opportunity because someone is ranting about how this is broken, or that failed... and they are not given the time to do it all, nor are there enough hours in the day. As a developer myself I can also tell you that just because you think something can be added easy, does not mean it can be, or that it will work as expected or designed

The Community Relations Folks, Jessica, Gina and the French and German teams spend their days sifting through the drivel on these forums looking for issues and problems, commenting when they can... like Santa Clause, making a list and checking it twice just to see if the issue is real or perceived, if the opinion of the Vocal Minority is more unified for or against the idea, yet unable to comment on a lot of things because the Development Teams, have said "We would like to do this but we are not sure how long or how it will work"

There is the Accountants, "Subscriptions have dropped .02% we need to panic!!!", "We are out of Post-it notes, it's the end of the World" or what ever... they also tell the development teams "Sure, you can add that feature, but can you add it for less then $10.00?"

Yes, much of this is said tongue in cheek, but the truth is, we as a society are an opinionated and impatient lot without a lick of sense in our heads... so I picked other, and blame the whole thing on Harry Potter... or Harry Dresden... or Harry Feet.
Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

Both are fine. This game is breaking new ground by doing something different and what we are experiencing are growing pains on both sides. A portion of the gaming community is not used to or doesn't understand the approach that ESO is taking and so they react poorly. There are inevitably growing pains on the technical side and the community is getting frustrated - naturally. This will all even out, they just have to stick with it. As far as concept goes, as I said, this is ground breaking and not everyne's cup of tea even if they fully understand it. I really do hope that ESO developers that are discouraged rite now see this because it is the honest truth. Keep up the good fight guys, there are those that appreciate what you're doing!

Little bit of both. The game has issues, obviously. But that's mostly on the devs. A majority of the community, however... Remind me of the CoD community.

    Fail community
This is my first MMO. I'm used to emotional game communities, but this is something else. It's like some people are players of this game, only because they want to watch it fail. Or at least, they think it will fail, so they want to sit here and say "I told you so" over and over until it might become true.

The game is far from perfect, but a large part of the community don't seem interested in ZOS improving it, they'd rather sulk about it.

    Fail game
Fail game is the cause for the negativity on the forums. First few days after launch were fine, but since then its been like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Patch after patch of fixing one thing and breaking two, while ignoring the glaringly big issues frustrating players to the point of unsubbing after a only a month or two. On top of all this no interaction from the devs. A little activity here would've gone a long way to ease tensions and provide a clear direction for the game. But we're left here wondering what's around the corner, will they address our main concerns or continuing to ignore the feedback from the declining subs they still have left...
