Reading / Listening Quest Dialog (minor quest spoiler!)

I've been reading quest texts and listening to NPCs ever since the launch. I really got pretty much immersed in the story. However I must admit that I never payed much attention to what NPCs say when you are following them or they are casting something (sometimes you can't even hear them, because combat noise is so much louder).

So I've been just finishing my story in Rivenspire (VR3). It began with the quest "The Lightless Remnant" - suddenly I stumbled upon the place where I had to save 3 NPCs. As I wasn't paying attention to what Verandis was saying, it costed me dearly - well it was frustrating. I literally fought 10 waves of Gargoyles before I realized I'm doing something really wrong. -.- Well at least I learned my lesson to never ignore NPCs again!

Still I wish there was an option for Subtitles ingame, sometimes it just gets to overwhelming and I can't hear them with all the combat noise.

Thanks I didn't know about that! It could've been made better (I dont like it being in the chat), but it will have to do for now.

There are some addons that will display NPC chat as subtitles in the way I think you want.

A quick search at http://www.esoui.com/ revealed Wykkyd's Framework has such functionality, or if you prefer standalone mods there's RAETIA Subtitles or Harven's Subtitles, and there may be others elsewhere. I can't attest to how well any of them work, but one of them may have what you're looking for.
