Betmer As A Playable Race?

So I was running a quest today and came across this guy mentioning a race that exists in the world that I have never seen or hear of before. The question is, would you want it as a playable race? Why don;t we have it as one already?

I always kind of hoped there where some hidden races to get with expansions.

Being that they consider Mannimarco a hero, there may be an issue with them being playable to fight Mannimarco.

Pretty sure that Betmer in the way that it is used, means any sentient beast race, such as Khajit and Argonians are Betmer, and that he IS talking about the Sload, too tired to try and google lore hunt atm

That's correct. Betmer include among other things the Sload, Khajit, Argonian, and a few other things out there. We already have two Betmer races that are playable. I also think that some like to call the Orcimer 'pig children' but they're not really Betmer.

No, the Orsimer are definitely not Betmer, as in the quest for Herma Mora in Skyrim, you are sent to collect the blood of elves, and the Orcs are included on that, which is funny, cuz they always talk about "Elf Lovers" as an insult, which is more inline with Nedic and Nordic culture

As the npc said betmer=beastelf. Khajiit are one of those, they are believed by some to have evolved to what they are from the elves(mer=elf), like the orcs(orsimer) have.

Betmer also refer to the "lesser sentient" species in tamriel.

I'm pretty sure elves use the term Betmer to refer to any mortal that is neither man nor mer in a typical sense. Argonians, Khajiit and other bestial races are a part of this category.

As for them being playable...assuming that they were talking about the sload, the adult is said to be so heavy and fat that they use telekinesis to move...and from the sketches on the internet, i'm pretty sure I can't see them running on my computer screen (I think I might laugh).

As for the other creatures in tamrielic lore, such as the Krothingi and Lilmothiit, the time period is situated some time after the Khahaten Flu, which supposedly diminished their races to extinction (or perhaps near extinction in this time period).

I'm not too sure of any other races that we could potentially use as a playable expansion unless we go to Akavir, but I personally hope we won't.

If they make an akavir expansion, it would be awesome and you know it lol

If it resembles the frog-people in EQ2, no. If it more resembles the Zora from LoZ, then yes.

I'd probably make one either way, though, tbh. Beast races from any game are my weakness.

The term Betmer is a synonym for beastfolk
    uesp.net/wiki/Lore_talk:Ehlnofex_Languages/Archive_1

The beastfolk in question appear to be Sloads, who are like Jabba the hut with legs.

That's why I said they're not really Betmer. The fact is they get called Betmer some time, and hold the moniker of 'pig children'. To the elves the beast races are often considered very inferior, less than Human (literally, as in Nord/Imperial/Redgard etc). There's a reason the Orc is a 'Pariah Race'. At any regard, you misunderstood what I was saying. Orcimer I believe are the result of the followers of Trinimac who were twisted when Trinimac also got twisted. They retained their sense of honor, they just got a bit more angry and more insular. There, I clarified.

Yes, this is true! Orcs are elves, just corrupted by Boethiah.

I wonder how they looked like before Boethiah ate Trinimac? Apparently they were Aldmer before getting changed, not Altmer.

Well given how Chimer looked like Altmer, I suspect that Aldmer look very similar to Altmer. The difference appears to be Aldmer were immortal, and lived when time wasn't a constant.

I suspect that Altmer have changed the least physically, and once upon a time all elves looked the same.

With 10 races in the game, more than any other MMO I have played, I see no need for any more.
