How to make the forums usefull

The problem with these and many other forums is annonimity and lack of accountability. They need revolutionary change. It should be subscribers only. In addition to that, it should be linked to your in game account, showing total time played, and character class's and levels. No character names though to prevent bullying.

That way you don't get people with no end game experience trying to tell other about end game. You also don't get DK players telling everyone VR is fine. It would even stop those with 400 hours played saying its fine for casuals. All of the above we would know is trolling or plain ignorant.

Forums will never improve until people can't hide their in game persona.

Probably not a popular opinion, but accountability is key in any decent community, currently we have non.

I have no problem showing my characters and played time, but I would be sorely tempted to buy another account just so I could fill 8 slots with level 1s and post on that out of spite.

You should also be able to judge the argument of someone by its contents, not try to destroy their credibility by posting "oh look you can't judge anything because I have 200days played".

Or should we ask for age verification in the form of scanned passports so I can ignore all the comments of everyone below an age of say 20?

To improve the forums for my usage - I'd just like to be able to hover on a topic line and get the first few lines of msg display.
- Save me a lot of time opening/closing threads that weren't in line with the topic.

Accountability?
There's no accountability in real life anymore.

otoh, anyone should be able to read the forum, but I think that only members in good standing (subs) should be allowed to post. I don't think that means you can have sockpuppets, but I don't think you HAVE to be tied to your game persona.

That said... I wish there was a big red 'ignore' button.

Everyone else has Reddit, right?

'I am an elitist. I want to judge you based on your in game accomplishments. If they are greater than mine then your opinion and knowledge is valuable to me. If not then kick rocks.'

I'm a troll, no doubt about that. But, I'm the lesser spotted hardcore baiter, champion of casual rights and general winder upper of neckbeards and elitists.

I personally have great issue with players with 400 hours played saying the game is fine for casuals, when they could not be further from that demographic.

Absolutely not the way I read it...... and they way I read it, you would fall into the catagory of why we need more adult attitudes in the forums.

All the children's, quibs, 1 line shots with no actual content or revelancy to the current topic.

I agree. Subs only...... show me your level and class and play time.

Those pit tools on my hands to judge who is 5 and whos not

I'm not a troll, just stubborn and inclined to do the opposite of what I'm told.

I remember having this argument a lot on the WoW forums, max levels vs level 1s posting. In the end, it just boils down to whether or not the person knows what they're talking about regardless of visible credentials or lack thereof (it's usually pretty obvious, unless you're new to the game).

I would actually like to see people's characters in forum profiles, but that's more of curiosity than a desire to verify their ESO street cred.

Fine. My interpretation is skewed by the negativity that is abound by the threads on this forum. However, why would you want to make this into some quasi world of warcraft forum?

What is being described is what exists there. I do not want an armoury. I do not want people looking at my gear, etc. This leads to an elitist mentality in game. People start checking forum profiles to see if that person fits their group or guild based upon in game items equipped and accomplishments.

It's not just about the posters being able to see each other's details. It lets the devs see at a quick glance, that all those people saying don't nerf Sorcs, have sorc mains, or all those players saying the game needs more difficulty have no lives.
