Light Armor + Staff, Race?

Light armor staff users race matters at 50 fully geared and enchanted?

I looked at it and as far as I can tell Breton gives a unique 3% reduction to Spell Cost and High Elf adds to spell damage while Dark Elf adds to fire damage.

So 3% lower cost = ? DPS
6% extra spell dmg = ? DPS?

Or will an Imperial Staff user in 7/7 Light armor put up the same number and mitigate the same as a Breton or Elf?

I have a vet 8 Imperial nightblade, and the racial stats of the imperials make my character go overcharge with 2 stats and a very high value of the 3rd one.

Now...some races could really use a buff in some of the stats.
Redguard for example, except for the adrenaline rush (wich only works if you are melee) there is no reason to go redguard if you can choose imperial.
Argonians....they dont even have stat buffs!

so yes, race matters ...not too much to break your game, but if you are aiming to be the top dps/healer yes it matters. Not that you have anything to worry about, since you mentioned chosing imperial..

I am a V5 sorc and I have found the Brenton is quite nice. Not only for the extra reduction to spell cost but for the 10% magica boost. Magica affects how strong your spells are so this is a slight damage increase. I'm not sure if high elf has a similar bonus. If they do I would say if you want to be more solid at healing go Brenton. If you want to be better at dps go high elf. If high elf doesn't get the magica boost then Brenton in my opinion.

High Elf gets the magicka boost but every class can soft cap magicka...So as a Breton or High Elf you will soft cap Magicka much sooner which means you can get other stats!

Now Breton soft caps Resist and Magicka while High Elf sift caps regen and Magicka...

Imperial will soft cap HP and Stamina...

At the end of the day I can't tell what the real difference is seeing we use gear to soft cap the other stuff racials don't!

Oh and for a staff user, red diamond does not do much?

Altmer or Breton is the way to go for a caster.
Dunmer racials merge well with DragonKnight, but would only apply to Fire staffs for a caster.
Argonian racials only really boost restoration staffs, so bit too specialised unless you plan on being a healer. (and probably better races for that too)

One more thing increase 4% damage to effects is not the same as 4% extra spell damage. It is just extra damage to the effects procs and is quite hard to figure what that translates to a DPS increase but it is certainly less than 4%. I would take Breton and Dunmer over Altmer anytime.
