What is actually the worst gaming experience you've had?

Eve on line. CCP's pre-screw you people before a massive battle in a place called HED-GP. They said no refunds/ship replacement due to crushing lag issues because we as customers knew that CCP's promise of lag free mass fleet fights was a lie the players were making the issue worse on purpose there for was not entitled to any consideration on ship/items lost

Any chance that the Alliance Leaders of that battle were making it worse on purpose? I mean CCP punishing the players for it is ridiculous anyway but Goonswarm might be occasionally inclined that way for S&G. Like I said I haven't played Eve in a while so I have no idea who was involved in that tussle.
Nope the kicker in all this was when the dev's seen the blocking 500 man blocking fleets go up with the traffic warnings a CCP rep went to the alliance leadership and warned them before the main fleets could titian drop in.

There are so many I could list. I will try to keep this simple and to the first few that spring to mind.

    MMOS:
Second Life: Within a few moments of logging in a large nude man was chasing me and I am not sure but I think he was throwing man parts. I logged and uninstalled.

LOTRO (ROI expansion): All the grinding of the last expansion but with 70% less fun. Oh and they broken the Warden which in my view was one of the best classes I ever played in a game.

WOW: I forget what stat is was (I want to say either spell power or spell damage...it's been a while) but someone actually told me my score was to low to run Zul'Farrak and that I should have been in all blues...

AOC: Could have been great, I will even say that I had a great deal of fun in the starting area. Once I got past that it was just meh...

Wizardry Online: I don't even know where to begin.

    Xbox:
Assassins Creed 2: Lost my save very near to the end. Still not fully sure what that was about, all other games were fine.

Lord of the Rings - War in the North: Great game but with a very abrupt ending (like a Dead Koontz book).

    PS2:
Xeno Saga: AKA "When do I get to actually play this game?"

I rather liked the series and didn't know there was an MMO based on it. That being said, "Perma-death"? Lack of Races? Lack of Classes? It sounds like the MMO was a poor man's version of the single-player games.

I don't think this is the worst gaming experience of MMOs.

I just find it lackluster and generally not fun to play. The combat gameplay is both overly simplified (hold down block, spam instant casts + ultimates is the most effective). The combat is unbalanced (magic vs stamina builds, class unbalances. poor class design, only 5 abilities, weapon swapping is painfully slow for no reason (there is no tech reason why it's slow...it is just some game designers decision to make it garbage).

The TTK (time to kill) especially in PvP is just really low and it makes strategy pretty much non-existent. (I play Wildstar now and the TTK if played right can be 30 seconds with skilled players...or like 5 seconds with scrubs who don't know when to or can't dodge or interrupt)

In this game....bleh...there is no player skill...just spam a skill and cast ultimate....it;s...just not interesting...not fun...not challenging...takes no player skill.

which is why you see all the scrubs taking vamp DK because of all the horrible game design, combat design, bugs...all of that added up to an unbalanced and unfair combat and people knew that from beta testing.

I will say the combat/class designers should all be fired...they did a horrible job of balancing and creating an interesting combat system, the developers did a horrible job of coding with all the bugs.

bleh...no reason to write this reason...most people understand and have already left.

Not to mention that basis of the OP was not about ESO and that I state at the top of that OP that I don't think ESO is the worst experience.

*scratches head* I guess, I never finished it and I had fun with much of it but I gave up when I was forced to make a choice between what I saw as two unpalatable options when I could clearly see a third path. Hmmm..... yeah I guess DA2 sucked pretty badly.

That's actually something I guess is always going to be bad, binary choices for things where the choices are obviously multiple in nature. "Do I take the mountains or the caves? What about the pass or the ocean? Hey I can fly! What's stopping me from going over?"

Sounds about like what my experience there was. Except it was a naked alien looking thing and the man parts were self replicating.

The main thing about Dragon Age 2 is that it wasn't really a bad game in and of itself. It was just a pretty lousy sequel.

I think you need to qualify this a little bit - worst gaming experience ever or worst gaming experience from what was considered a AA or AAA title? I can't count the number of games I've tried to play. Many were so bad, I didn't make it 10 minutes. I don't even remember most of those and no one else probably does either.

But games that were supposed to be "good"? What constitutes a "bad experience" in that case is usually disappointment. SW:G probably tops the list. Even before CU and the infamous NGE, it was a disappointment because despite the potential, they just took the game in a very strange direction relative to what I wanted.

ESO is not the worst, but it is definitely up there on the disappointment scale.

URU: Take Myst, make it an MMO, put in less content than was in any of the earlier Myst games, and introduce a long series of infinite bugs. Milk it for cash, cancel, reopen, cancel, reopen, cancel, reopen, cancel, reopen, cancel. Build it on a game engine that sucked. When the user community decided to rebuild it for you, tell them you would let it go open source, and then never follow through.

The worst for me was definitely when sony released the "Combat Upgrade" (CU) for starwars galaxies, effectively ruining everything people loved about that game in order to turn it into a wow clone.

My biggest disappointment in any game was SW:G with the Combat upgrade and NGE ... Man, I loved the hell out of that game. I know I would have stuck with that game another couple years had SOE not fubar'd it. I had a great guild, great friends that I had come to know and frankly, adore. Even with the lack of structured content, we always had something to do. Whether the daily run around and gather materials from my harvesters, helping to maintain the guild city we were in, and looking for the perfect resources for the crafters in the guild, who made amazing weapons... /sigh Then the random holding down of a tavern in a city dominated by the other faction lol that always made for a story.

And overnight, it died. I still get nostalgic when someone mentions that game.

I'd literally drive 15 minutes home, play for 15 minutes, and drive 15 minutes back to work on my lunch breaks. (and hope I had enough time to eat something.)

WoW was pretty bad, talking of the community I experienced, where gearscore was all that mattered.
And after our RL-friends team stared to run dungeon, I had to heal. It sucked big times, I was the meanest and most evil heal one can expect.
Hate these rigid class systems.... I was the only one in team with a heal tree, and wham, had to leave tanking and go healer.
Oh, and it was rather sad, that there were some PvP Battleground fights, where I was the one with the most kills of my faction.
And I was in there with my healing / little bit damage stuff. -_-
(Don't get me wrong, I liked the game somehow, at least for a time. But the community wasn't the best, and the only thing which makes me stay in an MMO for long is the community)

There were other games, which I liked very much, but were spoiled by different problems... but nothing compared to WoW I guess. *lol*

Shaq Fu. A game so horrendous it spawned a movement to eradicate all copies of the game in existence.

    Here is their mission statement:
Shaqfu.com's mission is to LIBERATE all the copies of Shaq-Fu from existence by buying them from anyone who owns the game, including local console retailers, Ebay merchants, normal citizens, and the like. Here are reasons why this is important:

    Reasons for LIBERATING:

    - You prevent other generations from feeling the corruption of this game and its evil.
    - You clear up the enormous copies of Shaq-Fu lying on the shelves in used console game stores. By doing so, you remove it from public display so that people will not be reminded of the game's existence.
    - Purchasing many copies of the game shifts the demand schedule, consequently raising the price. Even though it costs you more money, it reduces the incentive for a non-liberator to buy the game; a worthwhile sacrifice.
    - By getting it from another person, you remove the burden and embarrassment they feel.

I loved The Secret World, great story, quests with puzzles and creativity, best immersion I have ever had, much like this game, but they made endgame content just redoing existing content but made insanely harder, Hmm... sounds familiar.

Anyway the only time I ever ragequit a game in 20 + years of gaming was there, Nightmare Ankh dungeon, getting past Dr. Klein.
I was in a guild where the leader was an old hardcore Wow raid leader, and he claimed he was done with that, just wanted to be more casual. I swear he was the Infamous -50 DKP guy, he had the right accent.

Anyway, as we progressed he started getting more competitive, and by the time the devs released the 4th rehashed NM dungeon, Ankh, he was getting pretty serious. I had healed the previous 3, managed the steep combat learning curve, etc. but when we got into Ankh I just hit a wall. We were undergeared to do it, and it is one of the hardest boss fights in existence, I swear it.

Anyway, the battle takes place on a very narrow bridge, and Klein puts waves of crap alternating down each side, that is pretty much insta kill if you do not dodge it. Then about 1/3 down, this little minion starts casting a spell that did over 1k dmg per second to the tank, and you have to react instantly, hopefully no waves of crap to dodge, pop all your healing cd's and hit a perfect rotation. Many guilds actually had dps both pop healing buffs as well, but not my guild leader, he said I needed to learn to solo it.

Some number of wipes later I wanted to call it. I was stressed and doing worse each attempt not better, and he and another guy started chewing me out, hard. I ended up crying and shaking so hard my husband actually came over and unplugged my computer.
I quit right then. I came back a few months later just to enjoy the new solo quest content they had added, but That pretty much destroyed my desire to ever do serious difficult grouping ever again. Heck, I have been raid healing off and on since EQ, but no more.

So yeah, that was the worst.

The feelings of sadness and disappointment from Vanguard were pretty bad, too. I tried hard to make it work. I was server first on making 2 of the boat styles, and did a lot withhousing, but there were simply too many issues with that game. I had such high hopes too.
