How much longer until templars are balanced?

I'm just looking for a time-frame, nothing else. I want to know when a patch will be implemented that balances templars so they are desired equally to that of other classes in all veteran and endgame content.
End the tedious inventory management game.

I was gone for a while (2 weeks after launch)...I am guessing I should hold off on leveling my Templar.
  • snagallnub18_ESO
yea dont level the templar... they dont have ANY plans on fixing them in the next few weeks...they are FAR more concerned about the NB and the changes they are implementing you are better off leveling a DK or sorc...

No evidence since the holiday patch massacre that Zenimax intends to buff or attempt balance for Templars.

Beta and three months player base subscription revenue and we have no evidence of game stability, workable solution to bots and class balance.

Now they are polarizing and alienating the community by balancing in the negative by nerfing.

NBs and Templars remain broken from Beta. Sorcs and DKs are still the OP FOTM!

Class balance is months away, stamina builds will likely be even longer before resolved.

The question is how much longer are players willing to pay monthly subscription fees for a Beta format, to port to console game, and if ESO will remain relevant.

If it didn't take so long to re roll, I would. Since it does take so long I will quit instead until they choose to do something about how broken balance among a lot of things are.

sorry to lose another templar due to zoe lack of understanding ALOT of players DONT want to group and LIKE to play solo... i DONT pvp due to the fact that templar i have gimped dps and if i heal i get mowed down by EVERYONE...so i guess ill play my OP dk till they nerf the *** out of him
  • patrick.loiselleb16_ESO
I spent a lot of time and gold on my templar. I refuse to change. It's the class that I like but I'd like it a lot more if it was balanced. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I want to keep playing ESO, but I don't want to play a templar until fixed and my only character is v5 templar. Can someone please point out the pros and cons of creating an alt character on a different faction? I don't want to experience the same story again which is mainly why i don't want to reroll at all. I've done all AD 1-50 and most pact VR areas. I tried Wildstar and nearly threw up so now I feel i'm without any decent MMO to play.

Level 1-50 and V1-V5 is fun and relatively easy for the Templar. Don't listen to the QQ and sniveling weaklings here.

It gets harder V5+ but it's still perfectly playable and viable to V12. You just have to change skills and builds more frequently for different bosses and mobs.

The Templar is the weakest class DPS wise but don't listen to all the sniveling milk drinking elf lovers on these forums. They need to L2P.

Templars will be balanced once the nerf everything that works bandwagon has passed through. But once dk and sorc have been broken, they won't need to buff Templars, cause they will seem better. People seem to be more content trying to nerf classes because of a particular build (that works amazing on everyclass) than to get adequate attention to make all classes fun.

I think it's quite clear to Zos now:

    1. The Light Armour, Destro/Resto build is OP.
    2. Weapon Damage builds are underperforming.
    3. Stamina as a resource is expensive on many skills given it is used for blocking, sprinting and skill activation and that costs should be reduced.
    4. The problem with DK is the Passive AOE, AOE CC passive HP regen that allows them to use other skills and abilities. It's as if they are able to cast 2 or 3 abilites at the same time. This is what makes them OP, no other class has skills like this.
    5. Its clear that the Templar has poor DPS and Poor Magicka regen.
    6. Its clear that the NB has a poor selection of viable build, mostly due to the non viability of weapon (stamina based) skills.
    7. They know some skills are bugged, they know these bugged skills allow trials to be done super fast - some have been fixed, some have not.
    8. It's clear that Sorc has good dps and good Magicka regen.
    9. They know that AOE CC is bad and it needs more nerfs.
    10. They know they need to put in some AOE taunt for tanks.
    11. They know Medium/Heavy armour is crap compared to light, they know this needs fixing to make it viable.

They know all this stuff. They aint stupid.

Fixing things takes time. There was a point where getting the game MOST playable and shipped were the most important things as long as the game was enjoyable other things can be overlooked as the game is played and they are generating revenue.

Games out issues are known they are working on it. If your expecting answers "overnight" well GL. They aren't saying anything cause whats there to say? Just an acknowledgement trust me it seems like EVERY post is read as its easy to get a "stay on topic" "no flaming" "no trolling" That stuff has to be read lol.

They take "feedback" not demands if the path is right and gamers are screaming left they will veer off only slightly as they have a goal in sight and seem intended to reach it.

Yep. And in my legendary decades of online gaming experience:

If things are going well there is a lot of smiles and lots of in depth communication from the game director and devs.

If things are not going well its total silence and lots of stfu from forum mods.

Whichever one it is, they aint gonna say anything that they dont want to. No amount of qq will change that. I try to keep my qq to 2-3 posts a week, but sometimes its hard.

Dk aoe cc has been balanced. It is going to be nerfed further. 3 targets really is not much of an aoe. They now plan on taking survivability down a few pegs as well. That leaves virtually nothing for non dress/stick wielding dks. This will lead to nerfs for all the unique abilities for all the classes. They may "know" what the real issues are. But they are not addressing disparity between non mage builds and otherwise. I also don't see them setting up classes for the noobs that need to learn to play before crying nerf to everything.

Well, you could ask them. Instead of posting disparaging comments about "dress and stick" players. Who is that supposed to offend anyway! Haha!

They do know the class issues, they know the non class ability issues too. They must be able to see them for any number of reasons. Foremost is that we have written them here hundreds of times, they can't fail to have seen it at least 1 time.

I think the fixes are coming, but coming too slowly for most of us.

How long are you prepared to wait? Thats the real issue!

The only thing that I particularly find annoying with my Templar is the ridiculously long amount of time it takes to charge ultimate compared to the other classes. If ZOS could at least increase the ultimate gain or reduce the ultimate cost for Templar abilities I think that would go a long way.

Until V10, I found not real issue with my templar, sure his dps was less and DK and Sorc could solo stuff I could not but it was not until the long fights (3+ mins) that I found the biggest issue for me.

No resource management skills. All other classes get a skill or two for getting mana back. Templars have none. Fix our resource management skills you took away in beta and said "we will look at and fix it later' but never did anything.

Even the dev's own dungeon run videos have no templar. When the dev's themselves have given up on playing templar, you know it's stuffed.

The Sorc tanked, the NB did the healing and two DK did dps (in light armor and dest staffs) The templar was not invited as they could not do any role end game as they ran out of resources after the first min.

My templar is a blast to play.... but it's because she's:

    A) resto/destro, light armor(healer, makes sense to go Destro staff as offensive)
    B) under level 50

I have a sneaking feeling she'll sit on the wayside with my VR2 DK and VR1 Sorc while I level a Nightblade to VR1 and pray they make the VR grind less soul crushing.

I level 1 character, I cant bear to go through the same content again, even though I liked the quests in the beginning. Its not ESO, its just how it is with every MMO, I do the content thoroughly, ONCE, then im done doing it.

Templar aint going to see any boosts I believe, except small adjustments to abilities ,problem is TEMPLAR GOT *** LOW DPS, thats why we arent viable in groups of 3 templars and 1 other class. While every other class can have 3 of their class + 1 and have more than enough DPS to get through vet dungeons.

As long as Templar dont get competeable Magicka regen and compareable DPS with the other classes, there is nothing that can make the Templar a viable choice for groups, unless there is an exploit in there.

Community managers and developers are apparently talking to elite guilds like Entropy Rising, and asking them what needs to be fixed and what are the most pressing issues that plague ESO currently.

    In another thread, @ZOS_JessicaFolsom said:
    Hi folks,

Wanted to pop in here and offer some clarification. The Community Team does indeed participate in regular voice chats with some of our most active guilds. The guilds we're currently in regular talks with are a good mix of PvP, PvE, and casual. In addition to reading the forums and fansites, this helps us to better understand what the main issues are and their severity, where the best opportunities for improvement are, and identify what everyone wants more details on. More often than not, we hear the same things over and over (such as Templars, weapons skills/stamina builds, and heavy armor needing improvements and in some case fixes, changes needed to make PvP more rewarding, etc.)

These talks do not replace or hold more value to us than what we read here on our official forums, and are often done in the late evening on our own time. It adds another layer of valuable insight, and gives us the opportunity to ask about things in-person that we need clarification or more details on.

All that said, we are doing what we can, when we can, to get in here and answer your questions more often.

This is the first acknowledgement (albeit sort of indirectly) that I've heard on these forums stating Templars need improvement.

It's a start, I suppose. Hopefully, this means there will be more information forthcoming soon.
