Dark Age of Camelot Battlegrounds - good for this game?

I'm wondering how the community feels about adding low level battlegrounds that are similar to DAOC's. I personally feel they would more match the style of this game since it is frontier RVR, rather than the WOW type capture the flag bg's.

In Dark Age, the battlegrounds were like a miniature version of the lvl 50 rvr. That is, they had a map that was frontiers like, with a keep at the middle sorrounded by bridges, and each realm would try to hold or capture that keep.

I'm looking for stuff to do other than JUST solo questing in this game (since group dungeons are pointless) on my way to VR12, and this would be an amazing way to diversify your fun, and keep things fresh so people don't get bogged down or bored along the way. Currently, pvping in cyrodil as a low level isn't that great. High VR players will just stomp you, which is fine because it promotes leveling, but you don't get that really competitive feeling of rvr/pvp at early levels like you did in DAOC or WOW. You just feel like you are RVRing with one arm tied behind your back so you might as well go back and do the same solo questing you have been doing non-stop.

I agree, I hear they are going to change things up in RvR. Hopefully they will add that in because some characters are too damn hard to level to vet 12 just to test out in RvR.
Just a spoonful of moon sugar helps the medicine go down.

    Daoc didnt have PVErs.
It had PVE, not PVErs, so it was easy to fill both the frontier and the battlegrounds.

Mind you, i love bgs, in fact i still have a Hunter in Molvik, i just think they would not do any good to ESO.

Remember, this game runs on 2 mega servers. It's not like lots of other games with dozens of servers. Mega servers true strength, is the fact that the entire region joins for one queue. There should easily be enough players to queue for PVP and pve at the same time.

Heck this would probably bring lots of players back. In SWTOR and WOW, the warfronts/battlegrounds are some if the most played pieces of content.

    I dont know...
Maybe one of the new - short lasting - campaigns, could actually be a battleground.

DAOC battlegrounds would be great for the game. Any additional options to help break the monotony of solo questing would be good for the game.
Players loved playing battlegrounds in DAOC, and some played there exclusively. Much of the coding is already in place in ESO to create battlegrounds.

Having said that, this is low priority for the future well-being of the game compared to the things that need immediate fixing/adjusting in the game.

They would need better class balance before they try this though.

I definitely agree with you that Daoc was a game of PVPers. But I also think that Zenimax designed this game to be more of a RVR game more in line with DAOC than the PVE raiding style of WOW, especially when you consider how much time and effort they put into cyrodil, and how gear from raiding craglorn is marginally better than crafted gear.

They even put in stat soft caps just like DAOC had, which makes me think that they never wanted the RVR scene to be ruled by professional raiders who could 1 shot everyone. It is JUST like dark age in the fact that crafted armor is enough to get you soft caps, and raiding is more optional than required.

So much that I see in this game leads me to believe Zenimax wanted this to be an RVR game that had a good leveling experience.
