So my friend and I, who each have one alt in each alliance, can get coordinated so we can play the chars we always play as a team. Sometimes RP does need to bow to usability, y'know.
I have just told you more than I know.

I like it. Got some old friends over there.

Now we have it. People start to wanna have the basic game functions nerfed. As if its not enough to have everything else toned down to "meh, no fun".

    Leave the chat alone!

Then at least let me turn it of. Tired of being trolled by people i kill.

Add something like blizzards real ID to let friends talk to eachother then but don't allow people to type to just random enemies.

I'm glad most people don't even know about this but the word is spreading and it'll soon be a mess.

"WHY are you allowed to /whisper people in another alliance?"

Because in the video game universe, shouting only lets people on the same block hear you, talking lets people in the same country hear you, and whispering lets you talk to people all over the globe. ;)

soon enough ppl will figure out they can /whisper you a sh** ton of spam to lag your client while they kill you..Ive seen it in other games.

It will HAVE to be removed. ;) Shouldn't have to turn off friendly whispers . Theyll make it so you can turn off enemy alliance whispers.

It's nice being able to send a GF to my enemies after we have a nice battle.

What's your reasoning for not liking it? Block those who harass you.

I've been in plenty of cross-alliance outings in Cyrodiil. In fact we once had a group of people from all 3 alliances and we were doing group dungeons together.

To be able to /whisper is a nice feature for those occasions ...

I use to congratulate my oponents when a nice fight happened. Now I have some contacts in other alliances, and we organize some 1v1 and 2v2, quite fun. I like this feature.

I also don't want to see ESO become another game where we simply can't speak with our enemies because of a few people can't be civil.

There is an ignore list option, anyone who is annoying you add to it. If it enters the levels of harassment beyond the game (RL threats etc.) report them and have them banned.

If they are being unfriendly, ignore and report. Harassment is reportable behavior according to the TOS.

    What?

One that pops to mind is organizing duels with someone who just killed you/you killed.

Just last night some AD bloke killed me, whispered me and we had an awesome chat. We both complained about DC zoneblobs on the map. He left my group alone, but would remind us of his presence by throwing Reaper's Marks on us from time to time (he was a rather excellent NB). All of us had a good laugh. No upside? Yeah, right.

There is also the point of cross-faction alliances/ceasefires. What do you do if one of your opponents is rolling around the map in a zoneblob? Ignore the other enemy and get them to ignore you - a zoneblob can't deal with attacks from two sides and will be forced to split.

Whispering enemies is there for the same reasons that there are 3 factions in Cyrodiil. If nothing else being able to whisper my enemies has ultimately given me more respect for them - I have more issues with immaturity from people in my own alliance.

As for espionage/spying I think that may actually be against the rules - at least it was in DAoC and the same team are responsible here.

Hahaaa...see, "Good Fight" wasn't the first thing that came to my mind either...

Was trying to figure out why telling someone you just had a nice battle with to "Get ****ed" was a courtesy thing.

    (Sorry...it's where my mind went!)

"Good Fight" is much nicer. ;)

seriously this is one of the very few good things about this game´s pvp. now add some proper emotes and a real kill log that shows who killed who and where and we might be getting somewhere with this garbage pvp. trolling and baiting is an essential part of pvp and is what makes it fun, if u cant handle it, tetris is this way ->

Can someone explain something to me since I really do not understand the logic behind something. We can whisper cross faction, we can guild up cross faction, but we can't have our own alt from a different faction in the same campaign even though there is only one active campaign and the rest are pretty much dead for those that depend on groups (support builds)?

    How does that make sense?

I do not mind the ability for whisper cross faction btw.

Because if you really want to be a spy, /whisper is more effective than rolling an alt.

Well you see, I view that as a bad thing.
Setting up fights has no place in an open world RvR/AvA/whatever game imo.
That said, I know some people will still do it through other means, I'm guilty of having been in groups myself that sometimes did that back in DAoC.
    zazamalek wrote: »

Well again, I don't think this should be part of the game. Besides, It happens naturally all the time anyways.

And how would you stop that then? Have the NSA go through all the chatlogs in search for key words?
I fear this is more commonplace than people think.

I dno, I'm of the old-school when enemies were enemies that you fought, no talking involved. There are games that do diplomacy, duels and set-up skirmishes a lot better.

Lol if you can't see that having an alt on the same campaign different faction would provide a invested interest in that faction and increase unsavory behavior. If you provide a lock out timer when switching factions like they did in Warhammer then perhaps it could be acceptable.

I didn't know you could do this and I'd strongly prefer it if you couldn't. Organizing duels can be done outside of the game pretty easily and even ceasefires, but this type of thing should be difficult to organize. We're not supposed to be working with other alliances. They're all enemies. And when it's very clear that it's in the interest of both parties to not fight each other, that usually happens naturally anyway. There's really no need for /whisper to facilitate this sort of activity.

On the other hand, it opens up the option for all sorts of unsavory communication. Sure, some of you may use it to say, "Good fight," but do you really think this is what most people will use it for once it becomes common knowledge that you can do this? Of course not. Just look of the prevalence of teabagging. That is what it'll be used for: to teabag your enemy while simultaneously making up jokes about the size of their genitalia.

I'd rather enemies just remain enemies. Trash talk can be left to the forums for those who revel in that sort of thing. Direct communication should be rather difficult and indirect communication is often just as effective.

Edit: I would like to be able to emote, though.
