I love the basic gameplay of ESO but......

I don't know exactly why, but my motivation to play ESO is starting to flounder. Levels 1-50 seemed exciting and I felt like I was the ONE. I was getting stronger, gear was making a difference, and I felt like I was making progress.

Now to the VR ranks. I feel weak, and it feels like the game has no direction. I believe ZOS has lost direction in the game. People are not running end game content for substantial improvements to their characters. The only grind is for crafting mats :s . And at VR12 skills are not really that much better than VR1.

I guess the I have lost the drive to continue, as I only play about 3 times a week now and it is not exciting.

I think the development team needs to take another look at the end game carrot to retain peoples interest.

The end game carrot is a myth. Once you get the carrot what else is there? They can provide another carrot but then what was the point of the previous carrot?

This games endgame is focused on 2 things. Story or PVP. To keep adding more and more rewards at the end of a game adds constand power creep.

What ZOS SHOULD have done was gone and attempted horizontal gaming as it would have led VERY well to the series and the current design of the game.

I said a while ago that VR content should at least give us a boost in stats. Nothing massive just a couple of points added to 'each' stat for every new level. At least then we would feel like we are achieving something !
Its bad enough that VR ruins the game for anybody wanting to play an Alt. Its pretty much just one continuous / boring grind (even in Craglorn)
It ruins any kind of emersion of faction pride.

    :(

VR is an old-fashioned end-game gear grind except the quests aren't dailies. Think of it like that and it becomes clear what ZOS intend for it.

Try rolling a new character under another alliance. I like to see Veteran Ranks as a New Game+ which not always is exciting, because you are using the same old tired character again.

As you say, there isn't a huge difference in skills between VRs so unless you are a minmaxer there isn't any real need to do them, except maybe Craglorn. But people are doing that at R1 so there's nothing to stop you from enjoying that content without grinding all the factions with the same character.
