I referred it to a few people before release. They loved Elder Scrolls, and I wanted some friends and family to play with. As of three weeks ago all six of them have moved on to other games. Some left earlier than that. I'm left with virtual friends. It's a good thing I'm in a damn good guild. So my answer is no. Never again.

Because it's not like I'd get to play with 'em anyways.

In good faith I can't refer it until zos makes it so we can do most content together. When that happens maybe I will.

I did before the game was released, then I graduated to a "your best of deciding for yourself" approach, now I just keep my mouth shut.

I have 4 friends who sub'd. And nobody is renewing. It's quite sad

I would only refer this game to the ones who actually like lore and aren't focused on dashing to level cap for the "omgz l33t gear - now I'm sitting in town with the inspect window open, and complaining on the forums".

Not only is the lore great, but while I take my sweet time, things are getting fixed throughout and being added to the "endgame".

Right now? No, I would not recommend it, but when it improves, and the majority of the bugs, lag, and bots have been dealt with, then I might.
  • stevenpotter321b14_ESO
No. My brother is ending his account, and my other friends left long ago. His complaint is the game is single-player. With all the bugs, bots, and exploits, I wouldn't recommend anyone play for probably 6 months if I was worried about them spending their cash and it reflecting on me.

I said no -- I do love this game, and I really enjoy playing it, but right now there are too many issues going on. I'd feel bad recommending my friends/family buy and pay a monthly subscription for a game that will more likely than not frustrate them.

Once a lot of the issues are fixed? Definitely. I'll probably pester my friends that quit to come back and try it again as well.

As of right now no, Im realy starting to lose interest in the game to be honest.
I have 3 rl friends who play mmo's and only 1 has brought the game but didnt bother to sub.
I first played eso in early beta and it looked and played like poo, I took the plunge and got it though when it went live and Ive enjoyed it until now. After getting to Vet3(100k) to 4 on my DC main, I find myself falling asleep at the keyboard trying to do the quests Im a NB by the way and having to plan out each attack on a trash mob takes its toll.
This was my first character which I side lined when my mate started playing who made a Sorc in AD alliance so I rolled a DK for a change on AD, out leveld him by miles as he just wasnt playing enough so I rolled another NB on AD so I could stay the same lv as him. The *** then quit so I then went back to my main that at the time was lv44 only to hit vet and find out I had to do the AD quests all over again for the third time round.

This game realy does feel like a single player game, Ive tried looking for UK guilds to join but none of them have active TS channels, and like as Ive said just questing from 1-150 is making me fall asleep, Ive never had that in a mmo coming from SWTOR,TSW,GW2.

I went to Craglorn tonight to see what its all about, and see people trying to sell dungeon runs for 500k.....sigh

Then I think to myself what am I suposed to do at end game (when I finaly get there) PvP is just a zerg fest, not my sort of thing and looking at end game dungeons and trials and seeing youtube vids its just Light Armour Destro staff or go home.

How could I get anyone to join me in this game when Im thinking of quitting myself :(

Unfortunately I can't recommend the game to friends in it's current state. Hope to in the future though. It still has a whole lot of potential.

I absolutely would. All of my friends are also content story driven types. Hence they would/do love it.

My friends understand its an MMO and therefore has numerous downsides. That just comes from dealing with the general public.

If you are playing it to consume the content and experience the quests... Its a pretty awesome game. The people that seem intent on hating it are the ones who rushed through to max level in a weeks time, and couldn't even name one of the names of the re-occurring characters that pop up in every chapter.

Not only do I NOT recommend this game to anyone in my family I regret having gotten my wife playing when I started. The idea begin we would GROUP and lvl together and start a GUILD for our friends and family that are also gamers . Since we got matching new ASUS/AMD machines the week before we assumed we were going have a great time with ESO. But the broken game mechanics and rules on groups and guilds/guild access along with all the other issues. The last straw for us was the last patch. Now the video issues of not seeing ghosts and other npc's was the end of our rope with ZO. Our multiple tickets with customer service ignored we close both accounts today.

Game is broken in it's current state.

    DCs, Lag, rollbacks, 301,..

Game is horribly balanced, resources favor mana skills hugely over stamina skills.

Grouping is a horrible pain that most often fails in what is supposed to be a MMO.

Fail + Fail + Fail = no recommendation other than to stay as far as possible from this POS.

I do hope they can sort this out. I bought 3 months before the 1.1.2 patch. I could play my vR2 2hand Heavy armor prior to that patch, but he is unplayable now on the odd occasions I can actually play before I DC. I think I wasted my money.

Best fix imho is as follows: Revert the game to pre 1.1.2 so we at least have a stable game. Re-release 1.1.2 stuff after it has been properly QCed! Give all players a week or two additional time as compensation for unplayable week plus (I've only managed about 45 minutes total since 1.1.2 due to DCs and 301 issues - that's 45 minutes over 8 days - horrible ratio.) Apologize to your customers for the gaffs! Allow customers to suspend their accounts to save remaining time for some point in the future when the game is playable.

Hey they even managed to accidently delete a PvP campaign midstream - lol - These guys are incompetent.

Hey they accidently closed the NA server when they were to just close the EU server - lol - these guys are buffoons.

Stay clear! You have been warned!

edit: to correct my horrible spelling

I did recommend it to a friend around release. I told her to save her money about a week ago. I promised to let her know when/if they fix bugs and balance enough for me to feel safe recommending it. Right now, I'm worried she would get mad at me and blame me for her wasting sixty bucks.

Like many said , right now , i would not.

But when it improves , probably , the core does seem good , the issues are the many bugs and balance problems it got.

I would love to say yes, I really would. However until the issue in this discussion "http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/91301/" is fixed then my attitude is (what's the point?). I love the game, but the main story arc (while amazing) would be better suited for say a TES VI "Soul Shriven" vs ESO. I am not going to recommend a game to family and friends when every time we try to play together we have to deal with either skipping content to come back overpowered and solo later, or get separated for countless hours while each of us completes a FORCED solo mission.

Yes, but the only person I really have to recommend it to is my husband, and that's the guy who walked me off a cliff during the lvl 3 Harbourage quest. I don't think he has the skill level to handle Hello Kitty, tbh.

Nope. Despite its age WoW is still the best MMO option because it has what MMO's really need. A huge community and lots of reasons to team up for stuff.
Simple really. If ESO fails (and I hope it does not) then I know where I am going.

I quit WoW years ago and since then every MMO I have played has either failed totally (FFXIV) or gone F2P (Rift... Trion Worlds betrayed the player base in the most nefarious way in MMO history, offer people a one off 12 month sub with bonuses and then convert that sub into a gazillion points for an item shop full of fluff and stuff they had already)

    Also THIS ...

From the start of the betas i tried to convince my wife to play together, how gorgeous the game is, etc. Last beta she couldn't resist my bugging and decided to play. Unfortunately, it was the beta they decided to take away whole starting islands which i was connected to game itself at first place. Unfortunately, it was the beta they suddenly changed their mind and took away all weapons and leave with a sword which she never, ever played a melee class in any game.

I was kinda disappointed and shameful for trying to convince her, since then i play alone, with the whole game focusing on Veteran Rank players only, i don't think i will be around too long either. Since i have no raider friends or friends who likes to join 500 member guilds that no one knows others to PvP, i will not refer the game anyone, anymore...

I have tried, but none of my friends will sign up without having an opportunity to try the game first -- and since there are no guest passes or 'refer a friend' invites available at the moment, they are a bit weary of forking out $80 for the game and $15/month in subscription for something they're not sure they'll like yet....

I would, but none of them play ES games. I got my dad to play Oblivion and he loved it, but he won't play anything that requires an online connection.
Oh well. Just means I can play in peace and not have to answer a million questions about how the game works and hear run me through this blah blah blah.
