There is only one way to fix this games balance problem!

Let all classes be able to unlock every other class ability, so you would start the game just as you would, Templar, DK, Sorc, NB ect. then add in quests to gain other class abilities.

This is what a "TRUE Elders Scroll Game" is about, freedom of choice, to build your character the way you want, this will also put a end to classes being overpowered over another because everyone can have access to all if they choose and it will make the game fun to mix and match.

I hate my Templar because they are sooo f$%king weak but I will not re-roll due to the time it takes to level but I would love to have the option to unlock other class skills via quest or what ever.

Sure the original class would be a bit more powerful in that skill line due to passives but at least we would have the choice to mix it up and play they way we want an put a end to all the problems that come along with being locked down to one class.

there were more classes in Elder scrolls games then this. Oblivion and skyrim watered it down . and in all honesty the earlier games were far better chr progression

I love this idea. Questing for other skill lines would be great. Defeating an ancient dragon to gain dragon knight skill line would be sweet.

No thanks, thats like playing a game without variation and a limited roleplaying.
I would even implement more classes with more defined roles.
To be the master of everything would be broken.

If you want to play with certain class specific abilities you can choose them at the beginning.

I think the background of this demand is just laziness and the ego/greed to get everything at once

This wouldn't fix the balance at all. The people with the "winning" combinations of skill lines will continue winning, and the people that build differently will still ask for nerfs and buffs since their personal creation can't steam roll everything like that winning skill set.

    It's more than that.

Aesthetically speaking, I would love to be able to summon shades as my sorcerer or enchant my weapons with fire like a DK. It's about flavor of skills as well. Seems odd that a sorcerer is stuck with mostly lightning spells.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I get a little excited thinking the combinations I, personally, would have fun rolling. Yet, this idea won't fix the balance as stated in the title. Instead of saying "Nerf DK's", they'll say "Nerf Ardent Flame/Earthen Heart/Dark Magic because it can solo group content" or "buff x/x/x because that's the way I want to play and it should be viable". The imbalance that is believed by many to exist now would still be there.

True but it sure beats people un-subbing because they don't have the time to re-roll or want too, also this way balancing skills would result in less anger from players then balancing a class, this way if they nerf a skill a player can simple say "oh well", ill use this skill instead or Ill play that way, as of now the only way to deal with overpowered skills or under par classes is to re-roll, quit or suffer and play a class you are not truly happy with, in the end this will result in sub loss, sub loss means less money, less money means lack of funding for solid updates, in the end everyone loses because of this.

Elders Scrolls has all ways been about choices and character progression, play the way you want to play, build the way you want to build, the way it is now we are stuck into a role for better or worst and as time goes on players will start to bore, unhappiness sets in ,players will quit or re-roll ect., you want to make money then keep as many of the players happy, give players a reason to want to progress there character, re-rolling is not a good option in this game because it takes way to long to level.

Even a watered down version of class skill would make a world of difference, as I said a Templar with Burning Embers would do less damage then a Dragon Knight simply because of passives that the Dragon Knight has to increase fire damage and vice versa, the idea here is to skill maintain classes in a way or more like specialization but also give all classes a chance to build the way they want using other class skills to a less extent.

You read way less Destruction is OP than Sorc/DK is overpowered.
I think it is because everyone can use it. It would be the same with this change.

There are very few builds that work really good atm, and sadly nerfing abilities will only aggravate and push people into the few working builds.
In my opinion the only way to diversify builds is to have more strong abilities, and counter abilities to some of the more broken ones.

The suggested change could be an easy first step, also new guild skill lines.
If every skill is worth to be put on the bar builds would be more diverse.

Nerfing would lead the other way, everyone would use one of the few viable combinations, and because class skills would be involved in working combinations only one or two classes would be best.

Power balance in MMOs is a delicate ecosystem. It's easier to double geographical content than it is to implement new classes. The freedoms you dream of can only exist in the one fish aquarium where a world is wrapped around one sentient variable at a time.

One person in a fully intractable environment is awesome. Thousands of as$holes like us in the same world is an apocalypse.

Yes, but thats the reason there should be no classes in a skill based system.
If everyone had access to every skill, there would be balance, wouldnt it?

I think that in this way , the game will be boring and monotonous, lot of ppl with the same skill setup and build every day , less variety, looking for the pown spec . No one will reroll a char again, the world under vets rank will be underpopulated and in cyrodill only vet 12 = less longevity. I don t know fi this will resolve balance issues, maybe yes, for sure the qq theads, but an op stupid ability , will be always op and an useless ability will be still useless.

Just because some skills are more powerful than others right now doesn't mean if you ditched the class system that it would always be that way. Skills get buffed, skills get nerfed, skills get added, skills get removed. Even now just because Impulse spamming is the best way to grind doesn't mean EVERYONE is doing it. I am not. But hell I would love to take some abilities from other classes to mix with my NB for a build I wanted. Yeah people are always going to do the cookie cutter builds and elitist will only accept X or Y builds for raids but in PvP you would have no clue what is coming at you and you could come up with anything you really wanted to play as.
