Why would you do a ban wave on the night before a 3 day holiday weekend?? You screwed up last month on April 20th and banned a bunch of accounts accidently - What made you think it would go better this time?? Do this kind of stuff on a Monday so you can help them.

Here's the Reddit since your forums are horribly designed and you banned all these people from them as well..

They've already unbanned 1/3 of the people I know, saying it was an error. Get your feet out of your mouth.

Oh and here's a handy news article on what they did LAST time April 20th:

    http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/04/20/elder-scrolls-online-accidentally-bans-legitimate-accounts/

Blah blah, legitimate accounts never get banned. Yea right, not with ZOS.

I checked out the reddit the op posted the link to. Like everything else on reddit it is just unfounded trash posted in the form of a question seeking answers while really slinging mud and false information about what has supposedly happened.

When posting links, try to link things that are annoyingly entertaining , such as *** memes, or at least to fact based literature backing your concern and not just some trash site you posted this same damn thing on. ;)

Cheaters and exploiters will always be caught and banned and not any amount of third party defending will cover or defend the truth of why were they banned. Most of us know what they did and even if the get unbanned we know it was unfair for the rest of the player base that did not abuse it, however, at this point is a matter of principle and I really can care less anymore, as most of the issues that break this game get sweep under the rug and the ones suffering the results of the actions are the true players. Good travels to you all.

You're blind and blindly defending a company you don't have nearly as much time in as I do.

Let me explain something to you - I run a business. If I'm going to do something that adversely affects my customers I'm not going to do it before a holiday weekend.

The sad thing is this is the second time in a row they've done it. They did it right before the Easter weekend (no one I know was affected, I just read about it) and now again on Memorial day weekend.

The funny thing is that my guild is 200 people strong and 60% veterans (armed forces, not in game) and they 2/3 people they banned were vets on memorial day weekend when they just wanted to hang out and play with us.

This company has a lot to learn. It's sad that it will most likely be after most people have left the game that they get their *** together.

Like it or not, that's the truth.

    Good day sir.

Dear Chry, that's how MMOs are. *** happens all the time and they try to fix. Say a game will fail without it complete it's first year is absolutely ridiculous. The company indeed has a lot to learn and for that they need time. You likely run a small business, we are talking about a multi-million corporation with millions of customers, so you should now very well they don't give a *** because once your 200 members leave it won't matter, they have x times that amount left. Now whilst I do recognize as bad pratice, it is the standard pratice by those companies. That much said, MMO launch, big company, you should know where you stepped. At least they did a mistake trying to do the right thing.

Waiting for the point at which some of the TES boosters get banned inadvertently and see their response. I seem to remember during beta they led the cheering for the restrictions on API access to third party add-on devs hailing it as a guarantee against gold sellers and botters. Well that went well didn't it?

Like the OP's friends, I too was banned for no reason. That ban has now been lifted and an apology given.

To be clear, I understand that when using automated systems to detect and ban bots that innocent parties are going to get caught up in that, and I have no problem with that (so long as all possible steps are talking to make sure that the number of innocents caught up in it are as minimal as possible).

However given this inevitability, when such large bot culls are done, there should be people set aside in Customer Services specifically to deal with these extra cases immediately. It should not take 30 hours or more to sort out such matters when you have forewarning that they are going to crop up.

To anyone that has been suspended illegitimately, don't give up guys. I just got my account unlocked after sending an email to them explaining the situation.

i think the prob arose from masses 'farming' fast respawning elites in trials in large groups, causing alot of disconnects and repeated relogging. technically allowed but really.... just another exploit. sitting in one place farming nonstop for experience, grouped for the higher exp and loot... really...

    *eye roll

hence all the braggin about reaching the new end cap in a couple of hours....like it means something

All my characters are level 34 or below. These bans have affected people of all levels. So I don't think it is to do with the VR's farming Elites.

Just out of curiosity, but do you happen to have an idea what might have triggered the automated process?

I know at least one case of legitimate player being banned. It looks like ZOS is rechecking and maybe he will get unbanned

It is against the TOS to question disciplinary actions here. Also, you do not know your friends weren't botting, buying gold, exploiting, etc. You have only their word, which any court will tell you is HEARSAY and not admissible as evidence.

I suggest that rather than stirring up trouble you let them deal with the company themselves.

If upon investigation it turns out they WERE botting and exploiting, I praise ZOS and thank the divines they are gone for good. No offense.

EDIT: Also, please don't chorus about all the "poor legit customers" getting banned. I don't know anyone that wasn't botting, gold selling/buying, or exploiting that was banned, and I am in five guilds with over 1000 active members.

The people complaining loudest about the bans have been the people that deserved it, which is to be expected. That said, if it really was in error, let them dispute it through the channels available rather than making a public stink about it.

That's all fine and good, but if those three got banned for no good reason, then ZENIMAX should provide them with 30 day complementary time for every week they are banned. If there system is so archaic that they can distinguish between bots and people farming, then this game has a long way to go before it actually solves the problem.

Yes, there have been some documented false positives in the ban waves.

It does not follow that ALL complainers are false positives, but NO ONE in this thread knows the truth of it. Zos has to investigate, which is frustrating if you're caught in a false positive, and I hope it's resolved for your friends soon.

Jee, lot of free defenders here spewing threats and jumping on op for a legit problem.

This is customer support forum, isn't it? Where do you suggest op post problems? Yahoo.com?

If you have nothing to say to help solving an obvious problem, don't say anything.

Nope, sorry I don't. This is the frustrating thing with not being told exactly what the problem was, I have no whether come the next time there is a large bot cull, I will be flagged and banned again. :(
