Shada's Tears- Contains actual tears

Am i the only one who's group was completely destroyed again and again ...and again at Shada?

The sheer number of adds is impossible to deal with in our group setup of a dk tank, 2 templar dpsers and a sorc healer. The nedic warrior/mage/healer adds spawn way too fast for us to deal with the shield-imbuing neraids and each deals considerable cc and kick-ass skills in general (you know which ones i mean), not to mention the constant insta-kill aoe attacks from the boss.

Especially during the last stage with the huge aoe circles spinning around the room, nedic adds seem to spawn even more frequently, at some point there were 4 nedic adds(warriors, mages and healers) along with 4 neraids, the boss and 2 aoe circles below us

How is that a 4-person,daily quest boss difficulty? If anyone managed to do it, i would like to know your setup and any particular tactics you may have used

myself and 3 other randoms did it with lots of trials and errors

boss took us like 1.5h to kill trying different strategies

finally killed it when we all 4 tried to stick together at the last phase and switch to tank + 1 healer/dps and 2 dps'er

ok ok, i havent done that fight yet, im only vr6 ... but how and why do people complain about insta kills of aoe ... i havent been hit by an aoe since ... level 30ish?
How the hell do wanna get passed craglorn content, the hardest in the entire game if you cant avoid getting hit by aoe?

Yes yes, i know, gonna get flamed once more rediculed and what not, but im not getting hit by aoe, why the hell are you, not to mention your entire team?
the only aoes that do hit me in vr are the ones i alow to hit me because ive learned theyre not dangerous, you are talking bout craglorn here ...

Im in the wrong game im beginning to think, seems getting hit by aoe is how you play it ...

every single complain thread of being impossible starts with "team wiped because of aoe"

    Im really NOT getting it.

You mistake my intent, i was not complaining about the aoe. The same goes for me and i totally understand it if i die when i stand on top of a fire pit.My main issue was with the adds.

In fact i actually love the fact that i wiped so hard at this boss,i mean i really had a great time even though i need to start it from the beginning now, i just want to know if it was possible, which it seems that it is, and if anyone else had the same difficulty that i did.

Yes, a word of warning at the entrance would be nice O_O

Shada's Fallen City is far more difficult and takes far longer than any other 4 player instance I have encountered in Craglorn so far.

It took my group over 2 hours until we finally got to the end boss (crashes due to the memory leak didn't help) and shortly before we got there one of our group members had left (got disconnected or crashed or just didn't want to try anymore) and didn't return. With 3 people it was absolutely impossible to beat the final boss no matter how well we fought ><

Its too hard for most people, not for me, but sadly I don't have 3 clones of myself to group with. On top of the difficulty is the fact the dungeon takes like an hour to clear up to the last boss so if people decide the last boss is too hard it really hurts having to do it all over again because or quiters. Thats what happened in my group today, we got to last boss and the healer decided after 4 wipes(lol i know what a baby) that the last boss was too hard! Well the remaining three of us had no choice, but to give up because of one whiner.

I had thought up some good strategy too for the first part of the fight and bam rage quit!
I wrote a poem that I titled, "The ganker's delight."

As you lay upon the ground, cry not little pawn.
The pain will pass as quickly as my blade did take you,
but my delight will last and you will respawn.
My heart simply cannot contain my joy, when I ply my trade.

The fault lies with you, your skill was lacking.
Now your salt is mine forever, can't you hear the laughing?
Once you were so proud and now you are reduced to this.
    A miserable, loud deuced fool.

With every tear you drip, with every excuse you let slip.
All of your insecurities and worries bring a smile to my lip.
From your despair I have ripped endless glories,
but our affair is over now. Be afraid for I will return for more.

I have received many titles, to my allies I am The sniper Emperor and Grand champion hero of the Pact. However these titles mean little to me, it is the ones given to me by my victims that I prefer. To them I am "Xv1er", "trash", "no balls", "zerger", "noob", "cringe", "no skill", "camper", "100% new", "the reason this game is dying", "pathetic", "a sack of piece of [snip]", "mediocre", "absolute inbred", "beyond a virgin", "ganky dork", "fat smelly 40yr old virgin", "little girl", "daddy", "exploiting loser", and every [snipped] word known to man.

heh we struggled on it too, and we are imo one of the top PvE guilds in the game, with insanely well geared characters, top notch strategy and unrellenting attitudes..

    However the funny thing was:
After about 30 minutes of going hard at that boss and wiping at lot doing insane dps. (We could take her down to 10% in the initial 10 seconds before she got a shield)... We did it like this:

Our of all gear was broke (dungeons mega long and we started without full durability, plus messed around to purposely get each other killed a bit).. My gulidies demanded we repair, im kind of a jerk and like to challenge them to th extreme so I demanded we do it with 100% broken gear because we can.

And we could of, no doubt in my mind.

But yea one of my beter friends decided instead to get really drunk and not listen to my insane strategies. So he went to repair, the other two very loyal members of my guild remained.

He came back, still not impressed with my crazy strat.. And came up with some dumb one. I ignored it, and I guess he went to get more drunk during our next attempt - so died right at the start.

We gave him a rez, but since afk didnt take.. And then 3 mann'd the fight with ease.

Funny thing was it was insanely easier to 3 man. As he was our only dps build, and he did insane damage...

    Why easier to 3 man?

The boss summons adds based on her health percentage.

So us taking her down 90% instantly at the start (down to 10% remaining) meant we faced like 7-8 waves of adds instantly, as the devs didnt intend for that to be possible I guess.

So with him gone, we took her down much more slowly, then only got 1-2 waves per spawn and very easily completed it lol.

    So yea:
    Strategy:
    DPS SLOW, DONT DIE!

    (or a bit more indepth:

1 person stand on each of the stone platforms at the cardinal directions.
(Preferably the healer and tank are across from each other, as you can reahc healer range to the 2 closer ones, not across)

DPS SLOW! Only take off 10% tops if your group isnt max geared.

After that, she summons her protectors - they dont matter, they just give her a shield and give you time to breath. Fully refill your mana and slowly kill them, after the 2nd last or last one dies, the HARD adds spawn.

    Hard adds (Archmages)
They are like minibosses: Their special channeled attack targets a random player, ignoring agro.
How to stop: Interupt key. (Thus why you need a player at each platform)

There will also be 1-2 easier adds. Ice mage and healer type usually , but maybe a bit random, didnt learn pattern as you can see from above due to how we did it.

Tank can range taunt those (inner beast), shield block and kill when they get close. Invasion (charge) is also very effective if your tank is badass enough to self heal thru the poison (Im a werewolf tank and I did just fine).

And yea rince and repeat. Slow and steady.

Just dont do more then 10% unless you think you can handle 2+ waves of adds per.

The archmages wont multi spawn luckily, but the 2-4 smaller casters do, in FAST wavees. Soon as 1 dies, another appears.

And imo this can be done by very casual players in poor gear (everyone in our group had 0% gear since it was broken). It will just take a long time to learn it, even if you read my guide.

I just want to say that we also had a person leave but we managed to add another guy in the end.At first he went in and the waters were dirty and he couldn't get past them, but then he exited the instance and somehow his quest got updated to the step we were in and then he could enter and fight shada with us.

    Hard adds (Archmages)

These archmages seemed to spawn randomly for us,sometimes just after she summoned the protectors. They weren't a big problem since we could all split up and interrupt them easily, but sometimes other adds would spawn at the exact same moment and charge at me(the healer).

But there might be something to what you said about her health percentage being linked to add spawns, since i could never understand why they spawned constantly..

We did that last night and it was the most fun (and hard) quest run I have done.
When we finally finished the last boss (5 wipes as we learn the waves and how to take down the one shot Archmages) we feel like we really accomplished something.

We all wanted to thank ZeniMax Online Studios for a really good quest chain that made us like a team.

You had to pause when the adds pop and burn them instead of her or the 'next lot' will trigger. If you did not interrupt the Archmages, the could one shot you, but they cast slow and we just make sure we where on a spawn spot each. It was a good run.

This is doable. And you will feel so much better in the end than if it was really easy.

p.s. Had troubles with Shada's Tear - I think I only got it with the 2nd or the 3rd group. However, this quest is nothing compared to some Upper Craglorn quests :) I think, 2 of them... One had some lich in the end who was spamming anchors and adds, and then there was another one where the boss would go enraged really fast.

    hm...
my GF and me duoed the first 2 wings of Shadda's tears, but were unable to beat the spider (first boss, 3rd wing) by ourselves.
So next day, we repeated the whole thing with our guildies, and funnily enough had more problems with the spider then Shadda herself.

The fact that we had 2 ranged dps might have been the prime reason for this, though... wiping out Shadda's adds while standing in secure places isn't exactly a challange when you can do it from 28 meters away...

This is another one of those dungeon runs that gets significantly easier once you get the mechanics down. We just split up with one person on each platform and make sure our focus is on keeping the 'one-shot' kill mages interrupted so they can't shoot at anyone and aside from that focus the adds down. Making sure those guys don't get an attack off makes the biggest difference and we really didn't have a 'tank' role for that fight. Stopping to focus the adds also keeps the boss from moving to next add summon phase and creating too many overlapping add phases to deal with.

A templar healer would help a bit as well. I hate to say that because I've run a NB healer and one of our guys has run a sorc healer since launch, but we've both created templar alts and leveled them up and we see a huge difference in what we can get away with. A templar healer allows you to squeeze a little dps in and then quickly cast something to heal people up, where using only a resto you kind of have to keep the heals constant because they hit lighter. And a templar can simply use biting jabs or spear shards to interrupt npc's . Plus, the templar healer just allows the group to recover from either making a mistake by standing in red or recover from a big boss no dodge attack. Not to say a sorc or other healer can't pull it off, just that the templar is more versatile healing wise and has more tools to work with.

Dps slow is one of the keys to success if you want to have a stable run, nereids is 1rst priority then adds(mostly the frost mage hit hard) then boss. A templar can use the reflective bubble skill they have so that the "instakill" adds get their own attack in their face. Then use power of light on the nereids while healing. Always stay on the pedestal to avoid unecessary damage. And the dps should have a off hand resto staff or skill to keep themselve alive when away of the templar.
The spider boss requires: good tank and/or max AOE and good use of ultimates at the good time (banner, veil of blades and nova for the damage mitigation+ AOE). Simply drop your ultimate when the adds spawn then focus on boss.

Consider tears of Shada as practice for trials: AOE damage. Capacity to understand more complex mechanics (damage form the boss or actions the players must understand and do at the right timing in order to prevail). Tanking big foes with tons of adds. The only thing missing is DPS race though we find it a bit with the spider, the longer it drags the more the chance to wipe).

i dont get how any group of V14 would struggle with that place...

dont need a tank, barely need healing...

as long as everyone is on top of their own DPS+sustainability, that place is quite easy.

its the bugs and the annoying quest sync issues that kill more partys imo.
