First off, I'm aware there are various versions of this posted...Each is different enough that I'm putting this seperately:
#1: Crash to Desktop - Hard crash to ESO report screen on first attempt to download attachment from hireling mail. Submitting that report sometimes leads to number 3...This has happened numerous times since patch.
#2: Dedicated fullscreen seems to have improved FPS. Windowed fullscreen now redlines at 15 regardless of location (was never dropping below 35 prior to patch, often 60+ without issue.)
#3: Game hard crashes windows - requiring case reset. This system is 100% brand new and capable and running no add ons. Will provide system specs down below. I've not had this issue since early in the pre-release to about a week after.
#4: NOT a heat issue - monitoring temp of system and CPU and well within acceptable limited. Oversized case, 6 speed controlled fans, and liquid cooled. It's not failing hardware, it's not lack of airflow.
#5: Do not appear to be experiencing memory leak on main application (my machine only - my experience only). I've tried to reproduce as indicated in other threads. Software will increase memory use on login screen (as previously indicated), but levels off. In game play, memory use hovers between 1.5Gig and 2.5Gig.
#6: Launcher does appear to be experiencing memory leak. Increases at a rate of about 24K/sec... One thing I have noticed, if you interact with the launch screen, specifically, if you use the scroll bar under the NEWS section, the memory utilized will drop back down and begin again...
This points towards a main/monitoring loop of some sort at first glance. (And yes, I've programmed for 3 decades, to save the trouble of that rant.)
#7: Drivers are up to date - no add ons in use.
#8: My friend, also running similar graphics card experiences the black/white screen lock up that then kicks him out of the game. My system does not.
These issues, on average, were not present for the majority until after this patch.
We've been patient. We want ESO to succeed. Too many of these things have popped up on too many varied systems in too many varied situations to believe it's some mass hardware failure. Combinations that have one common factor...
System specs as promised:
Nothing is overclocked. No add ons are in use.
I7-4771 3.5 Ghz
16 Gb Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 750
Nvidia Driver 335.23
Windows 7 Pro
240Gb SSD primary drive
3 Tb secondary drive
(For comparison's sake ( #8 ), he's running an I3, w/GTX440, also Win 7 Pro, no add-ons)
Case is full size ATX with multiple speed controlled fans and liquid cooling for the CPU. CPU temp rarely approaches 40 degrees C, varies within 3 degrees of that.
Heat has been monitored while in game and launched. Temps monitored as well.
In short, after the first reports, I was trying to break it - trying to recreate.
For the 'Welcome to your first MMO launch' types, it's not my first, and I've been actively defending... Again, I want them to get it right... This is frustrating and makes it harder to back when the game, albeit with issues, was functioning relatively well, and now we're back to this...
In design, the general rule is, if you have that much of a problem, you roll it back to the last known stable (relatively speaking), and you try again...
I'll take some mildly broken mechanics over an unplayable game.
Perhaps more PTS testers are needed? Those that have had the very issues Dev's are trying to fix... Please fix this...we'll help, but please fix this.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it
wrong...Earn it.IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.
I am neither warm, nor fuzzy...
