5 pieces of Raw Jute... Seriously? Clothing Hireling

I opened up my daily mail from my Clothing Hireling today all that was in it was 5 pieces of Raw Jute...

Raw Jute...
5 pieces...

My Blacksmithing Hireling sent me 5 Voidstone Ore, 1 Corundum, 1 Dwarven Oil and 1 Tempering Alloy!

TEMPERING ALLOY!!!! WOOT!

Clothing Hireling....Raw Jute...

I'm Vet 7...I have level 50 crafting in Blacksmithing, Woodworking and Clothing. I have skill points in everything for these Crafts.

I'd like to cancel my contract with the current business that sends me these useless Clothing Hirelings and go to a new company. This Clothing Temp agency is HORRID.

In fact the next Hireling that sends me 5 Raw Jute, I will hunt down and drag to the nearest Troll and throw him or her at it's feet as a sacrifice.

Side Note: 3 Points in Outfitter Hireling for Clothing SHOULD NOT EVER BRING ME ONLY 5 PIECES OF RAW JUTE.

Side Note #2: Woodworking Hireling sent me 5 pieces of Rough Nightwood. Not as useless as 5 Raw Jute...but definitely not as prolific as my Blacksmithing Hireling.

Awesome. First time I have had a great laugh here on these forums. I love the story, the tone and your wit.

Thank you. I have been entertained.

LOL, be careful what you wish for. They might nerf the blacksmith hirelings for bringing you useful mats. ;)

LOL, they will indeed. This is all one big experiment how much people will put up with...
Beesting, Bosmer Magica DK, AD EU, crafter
Slager, Dunmer Magica DK, DC EU, pvp
Farmer, Dunmer Magica DK, AD EU, trials build

Every major patch looks like the end of the world but somehow i just cannot stop playing.

If the hirelings do turn out to be buying their mats from the goldsellers, that would explain a lot.

The level of goods provided by the hirelings should depend not on your craft skill nor hireling skill points, but the amount of skill points put into the material levels that you can use. That is, a basic smithing hireling will provide Iron ore and/or other random mats, but if you have put a few points in to be able to craft Steel and Orichalcum as well, your hireling will deliver Orichalc ore instead of iron ore (and hopefully sometimes other mats).

So, how many skill points have you put into the Clothing materials line?

Also check that these mats are not from an alt with a lower level clothing skill ability. The mail message shown appears fairly early on in the clothier hireling message saga, so it looks like your hireling has not been working for you very long. Perhaps it is a new one who doesn't know the ropes? (PS: yes, I'd like to fire some of my hirelings too now, but don't know how :)

As from 1.1.2, the level of mats received from a hireling depends on the skill (material working) level of the character with the hireling skill. Prior to this update, it was possible to have several low level alts with hirelings, then open the message attachments with a high level main character, and get high level mats based on the main characters crafting skill levels. I guess this was seen as an exploit and has been nerfed.

My hirelings give me dreugh wax and daedra hearts almost every day, so can't complain.
Just fire your hireling ( from a cannon, towards a stone wall, at short distance ). When you hire new one, show him the remains and I am sure he will be more efficient :-)

Random is random. Sometimes you get good stuff, sometimes not so much.

I received 1 Beechwood from my Hireling today. I want to draw and quarter something.

When I can get 3 to 4 times as much by hitting one node and the chance of that (with a few more nodes) giving me the chance for multiple improvement items... Hireling needs to be whipped, or refund my points.

Read? OP said he was at 50 across the board for crafting.
