hi.

so i'll get right to it.
i got the new patch right and when i went to play it my anti-virus software detected a trojan in the files and removed it. now i can't log in to the game. also why the hell is there a trojan virus in the ESO files. i want his sorted out immediately

    Sorry, don't mock free antivirus. My whole PC life using free antivirus never had a problem, virus always caught, never lost a game acc to hacking, never got anything stolen. Now if you use Norton, that one paid for is a pain in the ass.

    So you are using AVG then i take it? if so there pretty much is your problem.

    Antivirus software will find "trojans" or anything else on a non whitelisted .exe file. The exe file after update can cause such a thing.
    This issue is exponentially worse with free versions of any of these "anti" virus softwares.

    You`re best bet is to turn it off. Try your client again. If it doesn`t work you probably have to reinstall or repair the game unfortunatly.

    well i've managed to log in now it just took a long time i still think zanimax should look into the trojan though

    I did a quick google on IDP.Trojan.A8669E6C and found one site where someone showed this as a virus when using AVG, while other malwear checks showed the file clean, so it may be a false positive report. You probably removed the file, hence not being able to play the game. If your antivirus software has a support number I'd ring them and confirm whether this is a problem with their program.

    As far as i`m concerned Norton is in it`s own right a bloody virus :D

    I use free COMODO, have a ton of games from piratebay with cracks, always find the ones with virus always find the clean ones. Use PC for banking and all the other ***. Never got frauded. I asked the report because I doubt it is Zenimax's fault.

    send the report to AVG as possible false positive so they can investigate. In the mean time, try repair.

    As for why you can't login, is it giving you an error or does the game not even load? You aren't giving any details.

    For now I would treat it as possible and get another scanner to be more certain. Also give us all the details on the login issue.

    ok thanks everyone for the help. the log in problem was me being impatient and forgetting it was a 4 gig patch
