PLZ LET US DOWNLOAD PATCHES DURING DOWNTIME!

Patches like this one are big: We should be able to download it during the server downtime. Else we have to wait until servers are up. Given the size of the current patch that means no one will be able to log in until well after this point.

Rift let me download and pre-install new content while playing the game. That made the entire process go MUCH more quickly!

Disagree strongly , patch can always fail and and unpatching is harder than wait few mins after patch is up for dl patching during gameplay sounds like plan but prolly would cause just extra load for server...

    @becauseno1‌

No what i Mean is: Instead of waiting for the servers to go live again before the patcher is "unlocked".... allow players to patch the game as soon as the game is shut down. We had 6+hours to download a patch. Now we are gonna have 1-3hours + of download time on top of that.

Few mins? Patch size is 6gb. Nice if it 6 min for u. For most of others its not even close to 6min.
Also it doesnt necessary to apply patch. They can just do following - allow patch to be downloaded, but dont patch the game. And once server are patched - issue patch command to client. This is supersimple workflow.

i guess it depends much of connection :D since 1 hour dl would mean around 20GB patch for me i doublt i guess since there is new areas and stuff it might be 500-3000MB but it is just guess

Thats a big one :) But i would say you need a pretty slow internet connection to need 3 hours.
  • becauseno1
do they still sell 32kb modems? 3 hour dl time for patch is rubish

    TIME FOR EPIX MATH!

    Assuming standard US 20mbs connection:

    that is 2.5MBS...

for 6GB: That is a download time of 40MINUTES. And that is assuming you maintain that speed the entire time... downloads with ESO always seem to be in the 2.0 range at best.

HOWEVER that does not include patching time. The download has to unpack (and if you still using disk drive) has to write over all the secters. The install time can take additional 20 minutes.

People who have slower internet connection will take far longer time to download.

u know that patch is 6gb ? just asking cause i got no clue of size of it ;)

anyways for math continue lets asume that u got oldie harddisk what can write 16MB /S it would take 6,5 min to handle that 6gb not 20 ;) but asuming that unpack is needed 2 so it would be total 12gb data to go trough it stil would be just 13 mins ;)

for SDD lovers (me) it takes about 1-2 min :open_mouth:

No... that is assuming the damn thing works linearly. WHenever I patch stuff: the instalation part takes forever for ESO. Their program must be messed up because on other MMORPGs your point may be more vaild.

And me HDD/computer is epix speed so it is just ESO's program. IT likes to download in chunks not all at one. And you are forgetting verification speeds. Once it downloads/installs it runs a checksum to make sure it is accurate. That also takes time it appears.
    Indeed it is so...
