My guess is that the higher-ups at ZOS are using the complaints from a minority of neurotic whingers to justify new systems that will encourage people to spend real money to acquire stuff we were getting for free in the past.
I can see you are really upset about this change.
I wonder if you noticed that the golden pursuit has challenges that involves things that you normally do while playing the game and that you can collect endeavor points and some of those popular free stuff from completing them. Then spend the endeavor points on those items that you enjoyed getting from the calendar.
Also, when the new system goes live in April, there will be more changes with challenges of the same type. You'll get points that you can use to claim rewards of your own choosing rather then those that are on a calendar.
Please give it a trial. It is different, but there are rewards and you can take your own time in collecting them. In some events, when the system goes live, you can even reroll a challenge you do not like to get something more doable for your play style.
The Golden Pursuits are weighted toward things that I do NOT normally do while playing the game, as I do not do much PVP or group activity. As for the new system, it will require players to spend real world money to take full advantage of the "free" stuff. My overall impression with these changes is that ZOS is using complaints voiced by neurotic people who lack self-control to justify a new system that they hope will encourage players to spend more money.

Where are these empty areas? Every delve or quest I do has a dozen players also there. Its really not fun to have constant groups in a delve.
The idea is spreading population out to where it’s needed/wanted. Having the chance to run into other players looking to run Pledges in an Alinor Fighter’s Guild would be a perfect case and point.
Right now, what purpose does it serve? It’s just a prop. Stopping in and grabbing a Fighter’s Guild contract (pledge) would create natural player interactions throughout dead space.

Starting March 1st, Daily Login Rewards will no longer be available and officially retired from ESO. The UI will remain visible (but empty) until the launch of Update 49 on March 9. This also means the Daily Login Reward web articles will be sunset as well.
Additionally, Weekly and Daily Endeavors will retire on March 2. Seals of Endeavor will remain a currency in-game and will be earnable through the Tamriel Tome starting on April 2. In the meantime, we’ll be offering a Golden Pursuit, starting on March 3, that allows you to continue earning Seals of Endeavor until the start of Season Zero on April 2.
The March Golden Pursuit is meant to ensure you don't miss out on Seals of Endeavor during this transition period between Weekly and Daily Endeavors sunsetting and the start of Season Zero. This Golden Pursuit is designed to deliver the same amount of Seals of Endeavor you would have received when completing Weekly and Daily Endeavors.
Thanks for your understanding, and we’ll share more details as we get closer to these updates.
Where can I find a detailed statement that explains why Daily Login Rewards and Daily Endeavors are being retired? The first I heard about it was when I logged in today.
@Martiandawn
There was a stream on Twitch explaining all of this. In short, instead of Daily Login reward and Endeavors we will have Tamriel Tomes. The Endeavor Seals are not going anywhere. They will be renamed to just Seals. You will be able to earn them through Tamriel Tomes.
There will be 3 tiers of tomes. The first one is free for everyone. The other two - paid content. They said that the rewards from tomes will be cosmetics only.
Here is the news post with the highlights of that stream:

So, this change was intended to address "FOMO" complaints from neurotic people who lack self-control? Or is ZOS merely using those complaints to justify a new system that encourages players to pay real world money for stuff they used to get for free?

Spawn camping, warden charm all over the map, streakers streaking, hardos, quitters, AFK players, crash-outs over group chat, the player who only spams Jesus beam making public accusations of cheating because you somehow did not die and instead killed them for the 12th time in a row, "former emperors" constantly reminding others they were once emperor after they die for the 12th time in a row, players who only spam surprise attack or deep fissure telling others they are "doing it wrong," ROA enthusiasts complaining about Null Acra, werewolves spamming howl, players who forgot BGs are no CP making public accusations of cheating because their builds "do not work like they do in GH," sub-50 players who also forgot BGs are no CP and are perpetually dead, and of course spawn camping. I mean, who doesn't like spawn camping!
Going to have to take a few months off from BGs, just to recover from the sheer ecstasy of BGs. Humans are not meant to fly this close to the sun.
Oh, and a special shout-out to the dev who put a flower planter under the Fire Drakes spawn point in Port Dufort that you can get trapped in after jumping down to fight God's chosen spawn campers. Chef's kiss!
My experience with this, as someone new to it, was just the lack of any kind of balancing or match making. I don't have a PvP build and I would not even know what a good set is (I have zero desire to grind new sets at this point anyway). Just smoked match after match. Several we managed 0 points. WhY dOnT pEoPlE pLaY pVp. It's a mystery.
I was just trying it out and I was just a kill pill vs those who live and breathe this stuff. That's fair enough, but does it make sense to put me up against this as a totally new player (with team mates who were clearly as green as I was).
