To answer your question of why I have decided to force ads:

Feels like I need to explain the situation here a bit. So I started TTC 7 years ago, built an addon + website for everyone to use for FREE. I have quit the game for more than 4 years already but I am still maintaining the site using lots of my free time.

The business model is simple. People uses the addon to collect data and the website's ad revenue will keep the whole project going. From day 1 I already knew people are using ad blockers and the percentage is not low. But I wanted to believe in people, I wanted to believe people will help the project they really love so I did not force ads for the past 7 years.

I have tried like 5 different banners to explain the situation and the need for Ad revenue to keep the project alive. But 7 years past and the result was pretty disappointing. Percentage of ad block users went up significantly and the number of people who donated was less than 0.02% of the entire user base.

The donation I have collected over the course of the past 7 years was just barely able to pay for 2 years of the server's cost. If everyone was using adblocker it will mean that I would have paid 5 figures out of my own pocket in additional to all the free time I have spend to maintain and develop this project.

Based on the growth rate of adblock users I will probably have to shutdown the entire project in about 2 years from now. So there are only 2 options before me if I do not want that to happen

1. Force ads on everyone and allow people to sub for ad free content
2. I start selling the data by offering premium(paid) customers access to real time API when a cheap item is made available.

I do not like the level of P2W #2 brings even though it will probably yield me much higher revenue compared to #1

It was a hard decision but something has to be done. Prior to turning the anti-ad block wall on I further reduced the ad load (slider is dragged to about 20% mark) and made the change so that you will never see more than 2 ads on your screen (1 for smaller screen) and there are at most 3 ads per page (2 for small screen). Full page ads are set to about <1% chance of appearing. Regular users shouldn't see the full screen ad more than once per day.

So please. I am not asking for too much. Having some ads on your screen is not the end of world but no ads will be the end of TTC.


I think the days of TTC are numbered. Is their currently a premium service??

This is why we need to support our modders, Its sad because if TTC in no longer supported, that will put a huge dent in the game.

Didn't Alcast and Woeler release some sort of copycat that didn't rely on people turning their adblockers off?

while i am sympathetic to server costs to maintain this stuff, i will absolutely never disable my adblocker under any circumstances

personally i dont really use TTC at all anyway since i dont like relying on listings, but i have used it occasionally to look up if there is an item i am looking for that is for sale

The addon and ALL other guild sales history addons need time as Zs chanegd the total guild history, so expect these addons ALL to be troubling for at least 2-3 weeks.

I'd recommand to disable the addons as they might not work properly (even ZOs need sto fix many itemlinks that are wrong and thus your items do not match your saved data anymore and you got no price for them at all! That#s not TTC, MM, ATT or any addon's fault, but ZOs afaik).

So all, please calm down, wait and it will get fixed one day.
Enjoy the game that time without addons, update your guild history manually and check Minion or www.esoui.com for updates of TTC, MM, LibHistoire (som were alreay updated today) -> read the changelog to understand what currently is not working and read the documentation and howTos of these addons to understand how it works "now" and what you can and cannot do anymore (ZOs restrictions! not addons).

The update disabled the Guild History querying (which was using old API functions and threw errors) in total for the moment, until the author moves this to the new ZOs added local guild history cache API.

So some functions are just disabled for now.
But: There also exist bugs in ZOs cache functions where returned itemLink of items are wrong and thus you could get simply 0 price info as the items are correct, but the links are wrong, and thus no stored prices for those wrong links can be found.

As long as you aware of such occurences you are good. If you see "Not enough data" or "No price available" then this might be the case, depending on how TTC works and where it get's the items prices from (usually that does not come from guild history but direct inventory items etc, which ar enot broken in their links).

But definately getting history of sold items is not working so prices may not update properly in the next days/weeks due to that!

Another update of TTC was released now

Ask/Read Google FAQ how they add adds, and what they add, and how users are affected or what they collect.

Basically it's all about cookies/oher tracking technics and google setup of preferences and settings if you got a google account e.g.
If you want to see specialized adds or default for all, and so on.

Those adds are added by google and depend on your logged in user, your browser (e.g. if you use Google Chrome or MS Edge or Firefox is different as Firefox aimes in removing/anonymizing such adds mroe than other browsers), your settings in browser, your settings in Google user, your cookies, and and and

Basically the whole internet websites tha use google API, or Amazon API, or MS or Apple, or ... to show adds are doing the same. They track what you clicked and where you went and provide you similar adds then based on that. Except for if you disabled that, and your browser sends a "Do not track me" information (but even then they find a way that's still not disallowed...).

So you either do not care and get always similar adds or adds about stuff that might be of interest for you (and the companies know ALL about you in the end...) or you care and disallow collection this data and info, disable cookies or block certain ones, block adds or at least make it random adds -> Then you are not that good know to the companies anymore (but they still got ways) but your adds shown are randomly chosen and totally not of your interest (maybe).

Simply explained:
In either way the small adds are a way to get money to run the websites. So they are needed or the addon devs here have to pay all from their own money to host and run big databases of items of TTC.

You can choose to donate to him to support him and afterwards bblock the adds (fair way).
You can choose to see those adds and get him payed the hosting and databases that way (fair way).

You can be not interested in that all and just ignore all that the dev does, and what he needs to pay to make your addon work properly, block the adds and use the service and website all the way (unfair and egositic).
But might still work for the moment as there are some social players donating or not blocking the adds.
Until costs get too high and the dev needs to surrender due to it.
I'm waiting for the ones blocking the adds and not supporting the dev to complain then "The addon does not work anymore, make it work"...

Used it earlier, client ran fine, also scanned multiple stores, that was fine too. 🙂
