I cancelled my subscription just today. It was a much thought out decision and not an easy one. I will say that I have been playing MMO's since the old text only days and most MMos that have come out since then. I love the elder scrolls series on the console. Truthfully i had great expectations for ESO thinking it would definitely give WoW a run for its money. It has surpassed WoW in certain ways, definitely on questing and main storyline (I played the Dominion). The button pushing on the keyboard i thought at first was a pain but got used to it. I loved the end of the games quests in Oblivion as it came together fantastic. So im a V1 and decide to start pvping.... That is where i had issues.
Besides all the bugs and glitches I encountered along the way in simple quests. Pvp looked great while searching threw youtube videos and I love to pvp. I love dungeons and endgame as well, as im usually in the top end raiding guilds. I found alot of conflicts when playing, The PVP area is way to Big, yes you can port to another area quickly but its not like you can do pvp on your own and test your skills, you end up asking for an invite in zone and getting into a group waiting 15-20 minutes at a time then attacking a mill or farm. Every time you do anything you end up waiting so long. Everyone is basically invisible using crouch. Which always gives the person in crouch the first few hits. If your on a horse forget it, you just get destroyed trying desperately to hit H to get off your horse and your basically dead by the time you do. Anyhow the pvp wasnt for me, It is interesting but way to unnecessarily large and slow.
I opted for ESO as my family is moving away to another state and this is what we do together for fun, The complaints i had about glitches and issues every night at the dinner table were ridiculous.
Here is just a list of why I decided to quit:
1. Simple quest bugs that wont let you finish quest are everywhere, first time I've seen this in a newly started MMO, sure there are glitches in every starting mmo but just not this many.
2. I cant play this game with people I want to play with!!!!! Its called an MMO why cant i play with siblings/friends whoever even if they are not on the same quest with me?
3. PVP, There are no 10v10 or 40v40's just a Gigantic map and long waiting times to attack one small farm or what have you. Its boring. also MAJOR random LAG!
4. 4 Man dungeons, While leveling the 4 man dungeons were way to easy. On most bosses all you had to do was just tank them down, or run in circles while attacking.
5. Patches, Now this is a main factor for me, Your company knows the game is not doing well based on lots of issues/glitches/ bugs etc. So you try and fix them, not only do you fail in the patches saying you fixed them and they were not fixed. I realized that alot of quests that were fine before are now bugged. Some terrible coding going on apparently. Which makes me think, If you have so many bugs and need to fix them when will you put in new things into the game? Not very soon as you have to fix all your broken coding first. I dont have time to wait around for a game fixes when they should have been ready at launch.
6. Stupid decisions, Minimap gone? You had it during beta, now regardless if you like the compass or not I know your using M every so often to see whats around you. so just bring back the minimap.
7. Other games, MMO's are very expensive to make and there are many new MMO's coming out that know what they are doing as they have been working on MMO's for years, wildstar and Everquest next are two of those.
8. Money, An unfinished product and you still want 15 dollars a month, the Final fantasy MMO had major problems at launch and gave people free to play until months later when they fixed all the bugs, at least that kept alot of players still active and they had no problem paying then. I have a problem paying ESO now as the questing was fun but I dont want to wait for more pvp areas or fixed glitches while playing another factions questlines.
I'd like to say I did have fun for a month questing, but questing is not enough for an MMO. Thank you for the time but Ill have to look elsewhere for my MMO needs. Perhaps in the future I might come back if everything is fixed or it goes free to play for awhile until things are fixed but I dont pay for unfinished material. I did give it an unbiased try, great story horrible execution on PVP and questing with friends, that might have saved ESO from its bugs for a time.
(I didn't check my spelling as I thought why should I if ESO didn't check their coding)
