Gamers are only happy when complaining
The forums are always going to be full of whining and complaining no matter what the game is like. I know this from spending the past 8 years on MMO forums.

WoW (love it or hate it) is the single most successful MMO to date, and its players have been saying that it's dead since day one. Gamers are people. Most people are idiots. Ergo...

No. Unfortunately the vocal MMO players are usually obnoxious people.

Sure because people should be happy to fork over 70 dollars on a game and 15 a month for something that does not even run. Right I mean hell we should just send software companies checks in the mail for no reason at all...right?

Because in real life when I do my job, I do it right, give people what I say I will in exchange for money.

Here's the issues with this poll:

    1) the forums represent only 5-10% of the actual games players. the other 90% are playing the game, and doing RL.

    2) people tend to come to the forums when they are in need of information, or are frustrated and wish to vent a bit. they RARELY come to the forums to say what an awesome time they're having in the game. Thus those that would say that (the game is awesum!) are actually PLAYING it.

Thus you will get threads that complain about X being too hard, then they nerf it, and you get threads complaining about X being too easy. its not that "gamers" are never satisfied. thats a silly concept. what happened is that the players who were perfectly happy with X being the way it is are not NOT happy, and their the ones in the forum.

the people who complained about it before? well they're probably playing it now, as they have nothing to complain about.

Unhappy people are happy being unhappy.

    Sad, but true.

In my opinion ESO is a work of art. Art invites criticism. If you don't like a book, stop reading it. If you don't like a painting, just walk away. If you don't like a game, play one that you like. ESO is voluntary.
    It ain't easy being green.

I think it's very toxic to assume every thread/opinion that disagrees with the status quo of the game is just whining or complaining. Certainly, most people on the forums get too caught up in personal attacks on each other - or even the company - but a game without feedback will never improve. That is why they have testers, betas, forums and the entire communication apparatus.

I think it's unlikely that every gamer will ever be satisfied in any one game, but it's also a false dichotomy to shift the entire blame onto the players whom are dissatisfied - unless you're proposing that ZOS has handled everything perfectly, which would be a stretch even for the hardcore fans of the game.

the people who enjoy the game arent going to come on forums and post how good the game is, only when one doesnt like the game is when they post on forums hence why we have what we have

It's perfectly possible to be overall generally satisfied with something whilst still seeing room for improvement.

There is a higher standard when monthly subscriptions are involved, and the game has been in development for years with ample time for polishing and beta testing.

ESO fell far far short of that bar, and to deny this and blame rightfully upset players is the wrong attitude. This game had/has major, significant problems upon release, many of them taking months to even be acknowledged--much less resolved. From broken vamp batswarm in pvp, stuck/endless loading screens between zones, unresponsive & laggy chat/mail system, horrifically designed UI for guild trading posts (poor search mechanics, lag, unresponsive, ect ect), lag between weapon swaps & skill usage, broken LOS detection issues in stealth, attributes/stats like regens randomly turning to 0, lack of a combat log, item dupes, poor communication between devs and the community, and a myriad of class balance issues and broken skills, ect ect ect ECT ECT ECT ECT ECT ECT ECT ECT ECT ~ECT ECT ECT~.

Many games have problems upon release, ESO simply had far to many to fit into the category of "derp, players just aren't happy with the product". I don't think anyone anticipated the product having this many issues; and the fact that they're taking MONTHS to resolve (or even receive acknowledgement) is a major issue that needs addressing right now, to step the hemorrhaging loss of subscriptions. Unfortunately, I think the plate at this point is beyond full, and there isn't enough time or staff to resolve them in a timely fashion. More players will continued to get fed up and quit, and the critical issues that need resolving will be downplayed with threads that blame the dissatisfied players rather than the broken product that needs fixing.

Hey, all. We're closing this thread as it does not contribute to a constructive conversation about ESO. We're glad to see feedback from folks enjoy the game, just as we're glad to read feedback from those who are encountering issues or dislike parts of it, but we prefer the feedback be specific and directly related to ESO.
