Should there be extra endeavor tokens to claim after waiting for maintenance?

You know, sometimes there must be a maintenance and we people do not like waiting for it. It is necessary but; not funny at the same time. Thatswhy, I think, after a maintenance, each player logs in that specific day can claim 250 Endeavor Tokens for their patience and loyality. Do you think this would be a good idea?

Extra endeavors for just a maintenance? That's a bit silly innit.

Unless the maintenance went on for like 24 hours.

Of course not. Most games have either weekly or bi-weekly maintenance. For example, if you play WoW, go look at their logon page, you will see there’s a notification for their maintenance tomorrow morning. I’ve never played an mmo that doesn’t have weekly or biweekly maintenance. The only thing we should get something extra for is very long unexpected downtimes due to critical game issues, imo of course.

I don't need to be compensated for routine maintenance that allows the game to function.

Asking for a handout isn't the most obvious way to demonstrate patience and loyalty. Sounds more like impatience and entitlement. Just sayin..

Besides which, you want 250 endeavors (more than an entire weeks worth!) for a couple hours downtime? Wow.

Just more endeavor tokens. Logging in every single day and keeping a sub should get more endeavor seals. These but things you can't earn in game. See new thread please.

It would be a nice gesture for an unexpected, extended maintenance.

But I don't need them to hand me a free thing every single time I'm minorly inconvenienced.

Today wasn't too bad because it was only a few hours. It could still be the only time some people can log in and play, but it's less likely when it's short.

I agree that for long or repeated maintenance some compensation for lost time would be nice, but I think asking for 250 seals is wildly unrealistic and makes your post sound greedy. That's the kind of amount you get from a weekly endeavour. It would be much more realistic to ask for 10-15 (the amount you get from a daily endeavour), maybe up to 45 for very long maintenance which will have stopped some people being able to play that day.

Although giving it out for logging in the same day would also defeat the purpose. Often if I can't play because of maintenance that means I can't log in at all because I have to be elsewhere when the servers are back online.

Nope. Regular maintenance is necessary for the game not to crumble under its own contradictions. If the down time is caused by some major oopsie, like something utterly unimaginable such as the boundaries between the PTS and the normal game world becoming porous, allowing for billions in gold to be transferred from one to the other, then a handful of seals would indeed be a nice gesture.

Genshin Impact gives 300 (5 days worth) of Primogems (it's main currency), as well as 300 more if there are any issue fixes (so almost every maintenance), and that hasn't destroyed the game or been an unreasonable burden on the company. On the contrary, it has been a show of good will that appears to have alleviated the frustration often seen with maintenance.

I suppose I wouldn't turn them down. But it is an odd idea, to me.

First of all, members of the community are a wide mix, because you can play ESO as a subscriber, or with no ongoing cost. Initial cost of entry is extremely low. You literally could be logging in based on a single game purchase in 2015. 100% uptime seems an unreasonable expectation for a game that can be ALMOST free to play.

Needing to receive something if you can't play EXACTLY when you want to play also seems... problematic. If we applied that to "the real world" it would be like expecting a restaurant that had to unexpectedly close due to a flood or electricity outage to provide everyone who stopped by a free appetizer.

If there is maintenance, I play a different game. Or do something else entirely. The game will be there to play the next time I have some free time.

If there is some kind of very long unexpected maintenance it could be a nice gesture but definitely not for every maintenance.
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Maintenance is needed for every games and generally for all applications/softwares, no matter the support. I don't see why customers should get a compensation for something that is "part of the contract".

No, not unless the maintenance lasts for an extended period of time (typically for something that would be for a game-breaking issue that would require some form of compensation on its own, such as the PTS/Live server merges that happened at the start of the year).

I say this as someone who's time zone means that the times when ZOS does maintenance is during my peak play time (late evening) so basically I miss a day entirely whenever there's maintenance unless I stay up until 2-4am or log in super early the next morning.

This most recent regular maintenance, even less so, because it was so short (like an hour shorter than usual) that I was still able to log in for daily log-ins and even have time to get the event tickets before needing to go to bed.

In spite of the conclusions you might draw from the OP's wording in their post, I really don't think that their request originates from a sense of entitlement. Rather, their opinion probably comes from having played games where there is often a "Loyalty Reward" after a maintenance has occurred.

It's a fairly common practice to have a courtesy reward after maintenance in some Korean, Japanese, and Chinese MMO's (Often accompanied by an apology to the players for having to wait, and thanking them for their loyalty to the game) This isn't true of all of them, but in the ones I've played, it was. (Especially if you were a subscriber) It also happens in many mobile games. And it is especially done when maintenance lasted longer than expected, or when there was some kind of problem that caused the servers to be brought down abruptly.

ESO is actually the first MMO I've ever played where this was not the case, and admittedly also one of the first games I've ever played where the community was so avidly against being given a loyalty reward after maintenance. It's kind of interesting to see how MMO communities differ in that respect. (I'm sure there's probably more MMO's like this, as well, but ESO is the only "western" MMO I play.)

I don't know, what OP's gaming past is, but I'd rather not jump to conclusions of entitlement. Seems like they're just making a suggestion that might be a good idea. I certainly wouldn't say no to such a reward, personally, even if I wouldn't push for it.

When I first started playing, I often wondered why ESO was different, but the company is much more generous with rewards in other ways than other MMO's I've played, so I feel that makes up for the absence of such things. OP's forum account appears to be fairly new, so it's possible they have not yet had a chance to experience the kinds of rewards we already get and wonders about it just as I once did.

Just a different perspective. That's my two cents on the matter.
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause
    Legends never die

Wait, wait, wait ... you want ZOS to code up a new system (which is what they'd have to do) to award loyalty rewards after maintenance? They struggle enough with the spaghetti, lets not add to it unnecessarily.

What kind of idea is this? They should reward us for something they HAVE to do and especially do for us since we are the ones who want to play the game and are enjoying it.

Beside that most of the people are sleeping or working while they do maintenances. I rarely had maintenances where i couldnt play because of it. Definitelly no needs for such rewards.
