So after doing a few quests for the dragonguard (they popped up after 12), I went looking around Tideholm to see who all the new faces were, and lo and behold 2 Maormeri Dragonguard members. I'm happy to see Sai letting anyone who wants to fight dragons join up.

There are friendly Maormer in Hew's Bane too. There is no reason why there shouldn't be more of them around Tamriel. It's really only the High Elves who irrationally hate them.

Also, obligatory please make Maormer a playable race.

I'm pretty sure a good number of people who live in Khenarthi's Roost hate them quite rationally.

Yes but every race holds hard feelings against opposite faction races..Yet you can group up and play with them

You mean, like back in the day when they added bloody imperials and stinkin' ORCs as playable races? :p;)

    Yeah, exactly like that!

There are quite a few races around that might, Might, make possible additions to the player race selection for ESO. Maormer are pretty much on the top of that list: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/422285/new-player-race-possibilities/p1 ;)

    So?
Play the EP storyline, and you will have many, many good reasosn to hate Bretons, Orcs, and Altmer quote rationally. Maybe Redguards and Bosmer and Khajiit too, by association. Play DC and AD, and you get reasons to hate imperials quite rationally too. Heck, argonians -still- have rational reasons to hate many Dumner...
Does that mean people should not be allowed to play those?
    Nah!

(Though I really would have -loved- it if questing as one of those races in regions where that race misbehaves have to jump through extra "build trust" questing hoops... alas, paths not taken.)

Orcs and Imperials have been part of tes games for years though. Atleast since Morrowind

Maormer are good people, I love them almost as much as I love dunmer and imperials. Actually, I love them more than imperials, but less than dunmer :p Would love to finally have the maormer fish skin!

If you look at the body language of the two Maormer in the Dragonguard Sanctuary it looks like they hate each other too.

Well Argonians still hate the Dunmer and Dunmers look down on Argonians and they're in the same faction. So saying Maomer shouldn't be added because other races hate them... doesn't really fly.

    Exactly since TES-III:Morrowind!
But not from the start, so... there IS precedent of them making NPC races playable at some time.

In fact, if you look at the races in TES games... well, Arena and Daggerfall had eight, Battlespire only six (missing khajiit and argonians), and only from Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrtim we got ten, (Redguard even had only one, but doesn#t count with the whole "premade character" thing anyhow)...

So, really, the "ten TES races" is hardly set in stone just because it has been the thing in the most known (because most recent) of the games.

I mean, it makes sense of them not being "basic" races... but as overpriced crown store unlock, that would definitely be an possibility for ESO... as well as several others, as outlined in the mentioned discussion.
    Who knows?
It might just be that someday, in an expansion or two, we might get the sea elves too. Perhaps even with a "high seas magic" guild skill line like the psijcs... (hopefully not a new class though, I would hate that!)

I think it would be hard for eso to add new races without Bethesda doing so in the other games though? Don't Bethesda still somewhat call the shots? If eso were to add a new race then Bethesda would have to do it in the other games also I think?

Why would it be hard for races, but not for history, regions, gear, classes, frigging glowing mounts that are technically way more lore-iffy then a odd maormer or a dozend being exiled to live among the landwalkers and such???

Does ESO having super-special mounty mean bethesda has to add them to every TES game they will make? Does ESO having special neat armor styles mean bethesda has to add thgose to every TES game they will make? Does ESO covering a region mean they have to add it to any future TES game?
    Nah!
So, they can easily make a "ESO only" special offer of a race normally not seen as playable. The only thing they should not do... it break the lore as to whcih races are around to be potentially playable (so no totally extinct long ago races), or which races might make some sort of sense as playable within the story (so no races that could not fit with the "hero of tamriel" storylines).

The regions will get released on other tes games in due time though. As for the mounts and gear..those have less impact then a playable race I think?

Tes used to have classes before Skyrim

I would love to see Maormers, or Snow Elves. Or any race from outside the continent. Something completely new too.
