ZOS, Do a Survey For Performance

Guild survey just closed.

Can you now do one for overall game performance? Not balancing or anything like that.. just raw game performance.
Will the real LadyGP please stand up.

I think it would be helpful at least to gauge how many people are suffering from regular issues. I know we already have a 66 page thread, but I've seen tons of people in guilds and discords talking about performance who don't have forum accounts to post and I'm sure there are lots of people in game outside of my communities who are also having problems but don't post on the forums or don't report it in game.

If ZOS do in fact think the issues are mainly client-side, having hundreds or even thousands of people who didn't have problems to this scale 6 months ago would probably help alter the viewpoint.

What do you expect it to ask? They already have better data than any of us do about network and server performance. I suppose they could ask about client performance, but most people tend to blame the servers for any issues they have, and direct testing would be more effective anyway.

I'd like them to ask how peoples experiences are, if they have issues what does that look like, what time of day, location, service you're playing on (PC/Xbox), what does your hardware look like.

That way 1) they can get an actual sense outside of that 66 page thread what peoples experiences are and 2) what specs/situations go along with that experience.

This way they could easily pull metrics and see common themes and be like" oh these peoples experiences are bad and they play on Xbox okay there might be an issue here".

Plus I want to know if what "their data" lines up with the "surveys data".

    Bingo.

I know ZOS is going to come back and say something like, "studies show people do not like to be bothered to fill out surveys so doing one back to back would have a negative impact on the community".. but I challenge you to see past this point and ask yourself what value this data could bring to you and the team.

If the survey is a similar format to the guild survey, with targeted questions, that’d be great.

I would also love to see some deep dives. I know it’s been brought up before, when they polled us for future deep dive topics. I walked away with the impression they were surprised that it was such a demanded topic.

Whatever format, I just hope they recognize more transparency and effort is needed on communication, especially around performance topics.

I would love some deep dives, but on stuff that people actually care about. Sometimes I feel like ZoS is too quick to take the "easy wins" vs doing stuff that has long term success that may be difficult on the front end - though.

I'm fully confident ZOS knows all about the performance issues. The shortcoming now is communicating why the performance issues are not fixed yet. I'm also fully confident ZOS has seen a significant decline in income from ESO in the last six months, and that income was already taking a dive before the performance issues hit PvE. The same performance issues have been plaguing PvP for six years now and most of the PvP community has already left ESO.

This situation is just horrible for ZOS' reputation.

Survey or not....at some point they are going to have to realize that the "Mega server" just isn't a good idea for the engine they are using.....

    Right?

Who knows maybe they have solved it with the new engine they built for the new MMO...but that doesn't mean they will move ESO over to it ...

A lot of questions and not many answers...

    Sadness. :/

I never got to take the survey. I am guessing it's too late.

I can draft a framework when I am at my computer tomorrow. We need someway to concisely describe our issues.

Absolutely. Definitely impacts my future expenses on ESO and willingness to support their future projects.

Theyve address performance alot but i feel Theyve just given up probably due to the costs involved. Feels like the execs are happy to pump out content for the wales compared to actually fixing their game.
