ESO's DLSS Implementation

ESO's DLSS Implementation is very old 2.2.16, the latest being 3.6.0 and apparently some PC communities regard 3.5.0 the 'best' though none of them seem to explain why

Will manually updating the nvidia DLLs in the game folder trigger ESO's anticheat? Or otherwise get our accounts actioned?

As of yesterday DLSS 3.7.0(Preset E) which so far seems to be a major improvement over 3.6.0(Preset C) is the latest version of DLSS.

Any plans to update ESO's DLSS?

Edit: Updated to reflect the new Preset is E not F.
Preset F is the default DLAA Preset, which is presumably why ESO defaults to Preset F

Preset F has some issues with smearing. So it may be not optimal. But an DLSS upgrade would be still nice. :-)

If ZOS decided to update their DLSS to 3.7.x. or the rumoured soon to be released 3.8.x, which Preset they use would be up to them, so if F(or E) has problems in ESO they could just pick one of the others :)

It's safe to use DLSS Swapper and change it out. Works great and have been using it for a long time.

I guess, preset C is still the best overall. But ZOS should get rid of the DLSS auto sharpening feature. It is so bad, that Nvidia removed it with 2.5.1.

@woe Do you know if it is safe to use DLSSTweaker with ESO to check and change Presets?

ESO already seems to run better with DLSS 3.7.0 DLAA than with the default DLAA, but I have no idea which Preset it is defaulting to.

Decided to check using my 2nd account just incase ESO didn't like the DLSSTweaker Overlay

As expected 3.7.0 defaults to Preset F, atleast for DLAA

Same with FSR. ESO only has 1.0 which looks awful tbh.

I've never been impressed with FSR, but would still appreciate if ZOS made an effort to keep both up to date.

Not sure how easy it is to update FSR, my assumption would be that ZOS just isn't dedicating any time to updating DLSS and FSR.

Kinda sours the whole "FIRST GAME WITH DLAA" hype

Yes, they combine TAA with FSR 1.0 upscaling. And this is a bad combination. I hope, they upgrade the antialiasing stuff.

And it is not very hard to implement other upscalers when one upscaler is already implemented. So FSR 3 or XeSS should not be a big problem at all. On the other hand, the ESO engine is already very old. Idk how hard it is to make some changes in it.

Given how easily modders inject DLSS/FSR/XeSS into games that did not have them originally I would assume most of the upscaler work is not engine level. But I guess there could be differences in adding/updating an upscaler and injecting it via a user modification.

The version of DLSS that comes packaged with ESO has this forced sharpening filter that looks terrible during motion. Definitely needs an update as nvidia removed this with later releases and put the task on devs to implement their own customizable sharpening filter in game so the user can dictate how much sharpening they want.

I think thats the only thing that would take up a devs time to implement, well worth it though IMO.
