eso.exe and d3d11.dll hate each other

I can play an hour or 3 hours but eventually my game locks up and windows event viewer offers this Error information. When the game freezes, I hear a windows error sound and I can press spacebar to close the error popup and I go back to desktop. The eso.exe process is not responding until the error window is closed out, then it all closes and writes the error event log. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this?

    Hello @Scarr !

Since the faulting modules are directx related, we would like to have you try running an SFC scan on your machine to check for any errors and repair them.

To do this, you will need to open a command prompt running as administrator and run the command sfc /scannow

From there, simply follow the prompts. For further information, you can check out Microsoft's knowledgebase article on running an SFC scan by visiting support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

Seems the sfc/scannow errors I got were related to a botched windows update in May. I removed MS update KB3022345 and am in the process of doing another sfc/scannow. Will post results when complete.

Four things, in order of which to perform them:

    - Have you run a chkdsk on your system drive? If not, open an admin(!) DOS box and type chkdsk /f and press Y when asked to schedule a check. Then reboot and let the check run.

    - Are your video drivers up to date? If not, update them to the latest stable release.

    - Did you try to repair your ESO install? If not, do that from the launcher.

    - Did you try to delete the ESO shader cache and have the shaders rebuild?
Should be here: C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\ShaderCache.cooked
Delete this file *after* you made sure all of the above was done first, then start ESO and see if that worked.

Did all you suggested. Chkdsk was fine. Updated to newest nvidia drivers for my GTX 780. Repaired ESO. Deleted the shadercache.cooked.

Played about 90 minutes and crashed while interacting with a guild trader merchant. Seems I crash mostly when I am looking through merchants or in some inventory system but not always.

Here are the latest crash logs...

    Hey @Scarr !

After checking into some of our logs, we see that you have a lot of addons installed, including many for merchant management. We know it's a tedious step, but if you can please try removing all of your addons and trying again to see if it continues to crash, we can narrow it down further to continue troubleshooting with you.

Just got a chance to check in. I was reading a lot last night and looking through some things that are related to my crashes and my motherboard setup.

I have a Z77 version motherboard that supports Lucid Logix MVP 2.0. I've been using MVP for along time and not having any issues but I decided to disable it this morning and see what happens. I was able to play a few sessions of ESO today without any crashes, but that is not a long enough time. I am going to leave it off and my current addons enabled for a couple more days and see what happens. If no crashes for a couple days, I will post back here. Also if I do not crash in the next couple days, I plan on re-enabling Lucid Logix MVP 2.0 software and see what happens, if I start crashing again afterward I think we may have narrowed it down.

To further complicate matters, I am also using Reshade + SweetFX, I will uninstall those as well if I crash again.

    http://lucidlogix.com/support/faqs/

The MVP software allows me to have 100FPS responsiveness while showing 60FPS refresh on the screen by syncing with the monitor refresh rate. Without using MVP I either get really bad Tearing because I am at 100FPS, or I have to use Vsync and then the controls are sluggish and less responsive. The MVP 2.0 software also takes a load off my GTX 780 GPU by handling some graphics processing on the unused Intel 4000HD graphics on my CPU, thus allowing me to increase some of the detail settings and staying under 85% GPU usage. Without MVP, all the video load is sent to the Nvidia card and it has to work harder, as such it gets hotter and then starts thermal throttling and I lose FPS..

So, I do wish I will be able to use the MVP 2.0 software when all is said and done, I do see a real benefit from it.

Will post as I get updates.

One more thing concerning the Lucidlogix MVP 2.0 software. Above on my error dump file, I noticed the following line from the code I pasted.

    LoadedModule[94]=C:\Program Files\Lucidlogix Technologies\VIRTU MVP 2.0\x86\lucidd3d10u.dll

    lucidd3d10u.dll < ? Shouldn't that be d3d11.dll? Perhaps that is the problem?

    ** update **

Found the Release Notes on MVP 2.0 and it is supposed to have full support for DirectX11.2

Uninstalled MVP 2.0. I think that may have been the problem all along. Have not crashed since.
