The game should recognize if you are a new player and starting out, to have default values of everything. But if you already have several characters, game should leave you alone and apply your previous settings.

    No thanks.

My new tanks and DDs don't need to see overhealing or name plates but my healers do. My VCR3 prog characters need self buffs turned off while the rest don't etc.

While most of my characters run the same options like autoloot and auto cast ground abilities there are some differences between them I'd like to keep.

So? They could leave gameplay/combat at default values, but have some common ones the same. The best example are tutorials that are always on for new characters, abilities shown are off, NPC subtitles are off etc.

I think we need some simplification of Settings and consolidation. Settings for various things are allover the place.

No thanks. I don't mind if they keep the existing system as the default one and then give an option in settings to copy another of your character's settings instead, but the existing setup needs to remain the default. If they started messing with some but not others then that would be a nightmare as nobody would agree on what "some common ones" were.

Also, as noted in the pinned thread at the top of the forum, this forum is for reporting bugs, not providing suggestions, so don't expect anyone much to read it or respond to it. You might want to repost it elsewhere.

I agree that the current default should be the starting standard. For example, I only have one character that automatically picks everything up from a chest or barrel etc, and wouldn't want all my toons the same. I'm happy to change from the default where necessary toon by toon.

I’d like to have a default setting, and then have the game ask if I want to carry it over to a new character when I make one, and ditto for any changes I make for my other existing characters. I should not have to swap Guild chat text colors manually on every single character.

Exactly. Like when you start a new game, the game asks you - play from level 1 or skip the tutorial.

It's funny when I read those "no thanks" answers, like the game already gives the best possible options. And it's not the case - ESO defaults like you are completely new to the game, with average uncluttered settings - hiding your abilities, bars and stats. Yes even the lag/fps one, with tutorials turned on and no subtitles.
But all is good, seems many do like to turn that off/on for every single character.

Yes Please! I use the arrow keys and it is a pain the tail to redo all the keybinds every time on a new char plus all the other settings. Lucky, there is an addon that does it, but it be cool if they was an optional save settings in game as well.

I think the "No thanks" comments were in respect of the OP's initial suggestion that if you have a previous character then that character's settings should automatically be applied to the new character. He then counters the rejection of that by suggesting some common settings should automatically be applied. I doubt many would object to a wholly optional toggle for copying settings but it's the forced application of settings from one character to another that is behind the "No thanks" comments because not everyone wants to use the same settings on all their characters.
