✭✭✭✭✭There is a keybind for unsheathing weapons. When that is used, I do not think the weapons will sheath again unless a skill is used.

Yes. In Cyro especially I unsheathe my weapon immediately upon going through a door or dismounting because if someone deals damage on you you cannot use a skill fast enough with the stupid long unsheathing animation if not already drawn.
No one has explained why this change was made.

✭✭✭✭Agreed, the one second weapon draw time is one of the worst things to ever get implemented in this game. Especially as you have no control over when you do sheath the weapon(s), which happens during dialogue, mounting, harvesting, using an item, using a door, using a questitem, etc.
Why was this one second weapon drawing ever implemented, it is frustrating as hell.
PS: This was never a thing the first years of ESO.3 -

✭✭✭They changed that a few patches back.
Unsheathing used to be instant, then they changed it so the characters would play the animation in luxurious detail; the side effect of this is that if you unsheath by using a skill the skill will often fail to activate.
When queried they [devs] said that it should have been like this all along and that was that.

They fundmentally can't without having to rebalance everything due to the fact that if they did then they would be putting a small "cast time" on being able to block if your weapon is seathed, and we both know ZoS couldn't be bothered to do that

I remember seeing it as well. They also said something like "surprised you noticed"

Kind of hard not to notice. My nightblade characters used to be able to cloak at a moments notice. Approach a group of enemies, hit a button to cloak, and slip right past them.
But for the last year or more it has been: Approach a group of enemies, hit a button to cloak, play a painfully slow unsheathe animation, get attacked by said group of enemies because I didn't cloak in time, burn through all of my magicka repeatedly casting cloak until they finally de-aggro.
Yes, block or light attack will unsheathe instantly, but 90% of the time I don't even think about it until the animation is already playing. And there was no reason to change it. It makes combat less responsive by adding a wait time to your first attack, which puts you at a disadvantage.
I could see making this the animation for people who choose to bind a sheathe/unsheathe key for RP purposes or aesthetics. Sure, maybe it gives you a badass hero moment to stand at the edge of a fight and dramatically pull your weapons out before diving in. But any ability cast should take you immediately into the action.

I think skills like cloak should be able to work without drawing your weapon. It's not like you need to attack anything. I know there are a couple of skills like this (can't remember which ones) so I think it should be expanded to any skill that only buffs or does non-combat stuff.PC - NA0 -
