Possible Solution against the gold botter problem

In an effort to thwart the gold botters....

Every now and again, could we not change up the currency? Legimate account holders gold becomes diamonds? Or serial number changes hidden in currency? If somehow currency could be changed into another format. Last months internet black market gold would be worthless. Ok barring all the complicated technical issues associated with this process. At the very least would this not make it harder?

I have no idea if this is possible, and of course legit account holders would have to have their currency auto changed, so the virtually wealthy wouldnt be punished.. etc etc.

The smart people can work out the technical stuff..

Or, identify botting accounts and ban them...rather than adopting a labyrinthine process that wouldn't really address the problem and would likely cause huge issues for thousands of legitimate players.

You are trying to cure a symptom and not the problem, which generally doesn't work.

Of course they should ban accounts, that solution is a given, this is more like a double dose of medicene. There isnt one cure all for this problem, it takes an effort on many levels to stop them. Banning wont work alone, they just make more accounts from stolen CCs. We can make it more of a hassle on different levels. Anyway, it's a suggestion, that's all I can do at my level.

Easing the reporting method would be a good start.

As it stands, you get spam or see a bot, the reporting method is slow and clunky.

I get a gold spam in my mail and click to report, 2-3 minutes later it finishes loading and click click click...click again, now it's reported.

I give u an agree on that one. It's kinda a pain in the butt to report. Need a quicker, send screenshot method when u report, otherwise u miss giving the picture proof ( i think)

I would like a way for these spammers and bots to be recognized easily. It would be great to have Zeni ban the accounts, but from what some people claim, this could be very hard.

If a way to determine an actual bot / spammer was available, even if it took time for Zeni to act, it would be nice to have them light up and become a legitimate target.

Just a pleasant wish.

Then have hunting parties and maybe achievements for killing them.

I do my best to educate people on the dangers to buying from those crooks in zone chat. If they would only realize how far reaching the implications were, but it's the kids mainly that buy from them, so you cant tell them anything..

ZOEs huge mistake, so i read, was that calculations are done on the client side, making this game super easy to hack, so i hear....

I've actually seen very few gold sellers in the game this week. Even bots seem few and far between.

As for your suggestion, you'd have to make it easy for legitimate players to convert their currency, which means it would also be easy to program a bot to convert their currency as well.

Yeah, a technical challenge I am sure, but I dont get paid to make the game, I just play them, all I can do is make suggestions out of ignorance of programming.

Where did they come up with a bot program anyway? I'm sure no legimate company did, but if so, I would think they could be liable to some degree for reverse engineering intectual property if not indirectly.
