Same problem, crashes back to the desktop at the first splash screen, the one with the white cube on the black background that, when it runs long enough, says Bethesda. But it almost never makes to that point. Rebooted, repaired the client, removed all mods, updated to latest video driver and did a complete uninstall and reinstall. No change. And it ran fine before update 32.
I submitted a ticket but I'm not expecting much. And I just reupped my plus membership a week ago in anticipation of the update.
If none of the steps in this article are able to help with this issue, then please go ahead and submit a ticket at help.elderscrollsonline.com for additional assistance.
ticket submitted last night....the wait 23hrs so far
I submitted a ticket last night, with a game consultant file and a full description of the problem and all the troubleshooting steps I'd taken. I got my first response this morning, which basically told me to go through all the troubleshooting steps I'd already told them I'd done. I just got my second response about an hour ago, which not only told me to do the trouble shooting steps, but also asked for a game consultant file, which I'd already provided and told me to make sure my PC is capable of running the game, despite me telling them twice already that the game ran perfectly fine before the update.
Honestly, I know they're busy, but a simple "Yea, we know there's a problem and we're working on it" would be more helpful than what I've gotten so far.
Bethesda....what is going on? My ticket is STILL marked WAITING ON AGENT. This not like you. In the past I would get a response in a few hours. It's been four days now and nothing.
Today I restored a windows backup from 16 Oct. and ESO STILL crashes. It's looking pretty obvious to me that something in the Deadlands patch is affecting me. I know of no way to "roll back" eso as it's install is on "other than windows" drive.
I found out today what was causing it on my system. It all started after the last update...deadlands I think it was. Come to find out after that update ESO has a problem with Windows 11 running in "test mode". Most of you that may have your system in test mode know what it is and how to enable/disable it.
For those that don't:
Windows says "test mode" in at least the lower left corner of the screen
turn on and off in the boot loader with this command and a reboot:
Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
or "OFF"
from an elevated cmd prompt
