Stuck in Wailing Prison for Eternity

I created two characters, Katleezibah and Katlethi, years ago. They were doing the original tutorial when I took a break. They are now stuck in the Wailing Prison permenantly (I assume because of the Morrowind update with the new tutorial). Their quest now says to talk to the hooded figure, who is back on Nirn. I tried everything I can think of to get them out, but nothing works. I've sent this issue before, but nothing happened. Please just move them to their starter islands or something. I'm really tired of waiting to play these characters.

I just submitted that ticket again. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone in the community know of a way to fix this? (And no, you can't port out of Wailing Prison. And no, the unstuck thing doesn't work either.)

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but since you are basically still level 1, have you considered deleting the characters and making an exact duplicate? I don't think you'll lose any actual progress as you never left the tutorial area.

I've thought about it, but I really like the ones I have. I tried remaking my dark elf once, but I couldn't get her to look exactly the same and I would have had to make up a new name too.

I'm sort of frustrated. I just got a generic message on my ticket instructing me to go to the help menu and click "get me unstuck." That doesn't work in the Wailing Prison. It just takes you to the entrance of the Wailing Prison. Did you even read my ticket? I'm not stuck because I fell into a crevasse; I'm stuck because of a quest issue.

Did you try just porting to a wayshrine in a city? or porting to a guildmate?

If you try to travel to another player, it just says you "cannot jump out of this area." Hovering over a wayshrine on the map says "you cannot recall from this location." This place is a vortex.

The first answer from support is often a standard one, if you reply to that you should get a more useful one

Interesting. I have a character, somewhere in the 20's I think, that is still in the Wailing Prison helping the downtrodden. Although, now that it is not a starting location for many players, there seems to be little need of humanitarian assistance.

I have no idea if he is trapped, or not. He has not tried to escape.

Reply to your ticket and ask to be moved to the starting city.

I had a Khajiit, created on march 2014, who get out of the prison last month.

Sorry OP for what happens. Just reply to the ticket, they will do something. I have a friend who had a similar problem and his character is now free. It took a week or two tho for him, IIRC.

Just for the rare and unexpected case that customer support won't help you: if you delete your current, stuck, character and then create a new one, you can use the same name. Except someone is faster in the short time between deleting the old and creating the new. But appearance can be tricky.

Thanks for the support, all. I did submit a ticket about this issue several months ago and got no response. Hopefully my feedback to this second ticket will do the trick. I'm glad to hear others have had the same problem and that some of you have had it resolved.

The problem has finally been resolved! ZOS moved my characters back to Nirn! I guess persistence does pay off. Thanks so much!

Although I suspect the prison is working perfectly if you are stuck in it.

I had that issue once, several years ago. It was the same for me, I had created character and doing tutorial in wailing prison. I then took long break. When I got back to the game long time after I could not progress and was stuck. I made ticket and after a week zos had fixed it.
