I'd be surprised if Stadia brought a massive number of players, but if it does, well, the servers will burn.

I also suspect the disaster that was the “block changes”, was in fact just a means of making the game more playable on the Stadia platform. It just makes sense that moving all actions server side would level the playing field between client hosted players and cloud hosted players. Alas, this would also mean that all current PvP and endgame PvE players were screwed over to open the market to an all put failed platform in Stadia.

    Yes, just saw this.

I'm no technician, but surely even if there are very few Stadia players, surely the new processes will put extra load on the server?

This is one of the few times since late 2019 that I'm actually glad I'm on console. Still, not sure what to take from this. Publicly saying that the servers are fine even though you know reality to be different is one thing - that's just making things seem better than they really are to reassure people. But putting even more strain on them fully knowing this? Are they actively trying to run ESO into the ground right now? :/

It just makes sense that moving all actions server side would level the playing field between client hosted players and cloud hosted players.

Wouldn't go that far. In general, don't forget your game had to tell the server you started/stopped blocking anyway. So overall there was no real difference. Previously you could just start blocking without waiting for the server, sure, but at the same time this didn't make the server magically know you're blocking. So the delay was essentially the same.

Don't forget they can't do damage/hit calculations and the like on clients, because people could manipulate/cheat. Some MMOs do so, like Black Desert Online, which is why they also need aggressive anti-cheats bundled, but overall I prefer secure server side handling.

If I can play with my original PC NA account through Stadia via mobile and then switch back to PC when I get home it's a win for me! I'm sure the PING will be way better if I remote in and play from their PCs too!

I only wish it was through Geforce Now because Stadia isnt available in Australia :(

Stadia is going to bring so few additional players that it won't affect server loading at all. If they were forced into Stadia-specific servers, ESO on Stadia would effectively be single player.

Not sure why anyone thought Stadia would be on it's own servers. 1) it won't be that big a crowd, and 2) it's just another PC version of the game - just because it's running on a "cloud" computer over there (/points into the distance), doesn't mean it's not the PC version.

It’s unlikely to affect PC EU as Stadia won’t be available here.

The biggest effect will be the diversion of ZOS effort from addressing existing issues to adapting to stadia.

But only 1 of them at a time will actually be able to connect to ESO ;)

What makes you think that adding a middle-man to the connection equation is going to make your ping better than it is now?
