Hello,

This skill says "it improves the power of melee attacks". By this explaination, can we say that it will increase power of EVERY melee skills including magic based ones? And what is the difference between "power" and "damage"?

Thank you.

Id say melee is the use of physical weapons, not magic.
If a magic ability is a formula based on melee power then yes, it would increase but the melee formula would likely be calculated first and then the magic applied to it.
edit maybe I should add that Im guessing here.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

According to you, bow is also melee attack. I don't think it's true.

What about your attacks in wherewolf form? Does they count as melee?

I still didn't play, but I'm sure you can consider bow a ranged attack.

I'm very curious about this skill as well, mostly regarding how a heavy armor damage build will compare to a medium armor build. I'll try to get the skill and do some testing later.

I started a spreadsheet to track some data. There's not much there yet, but it's enough to tell you that Juggernaut probably isn't worth the point early on unless you have nowhere else to put it. I'll keep adding data to it occasionally.

Due to how the game mechanics work, bows are indeed considered melee by the game engine - even though they are ranged weapons.

No class abilities are considered melee, despite of their range, as they use magicka and is governed exclusively by magicka.

One special case though is the destruction skill line, which is governed by both magicka and stamina. They use magicka to cast but the abilities in that skill line have their damage based on stamina. So, molten weapons and surge do wonders for buffing these abilities.

Melee is anything essentially hand to hand. If you are a werewolf or vampire and using claw attacks (if you get them) that would be melee as would fighting with a weapon like sword, dagger, mace etc. A bow isn't melee, as someone said that is ranged. A staff also would be ranged unless you are clubbing them over the head with it ;o)

NB I should have read the comment above. If that is true, that is crazy lol

I think many of these things will not be known for certain (despite descriptions) until they have all been thoroughly tested. Baphomet seems to know a bit more than the rest of us in this regard.

Yea I REALLY want to know if Juggernaut affects Staff's Heavy attack.

Melee attacks are any attacks which use your MELEE weapon. This doesn't count for abilities that are in melee range but do not use your weapon. You'll find a lot of those in your class abilities.

Edit: your mouse button and weapon skills are what you'll be benefiting from the most, if not only.

It actually is categorized " a melee " attack type by the game. To answer the OP question is that if the special ability uses stamina, therefore it is a physical attack and will benefit from respective passives. It it uses magicka instead, consider it a spell and therefore it benefits from different skills.

Just FYI, I noticed some stats don't actually update on your character until you relog. For example, if you have an ability that says +10% health regen, you don't actually see it in your stats until after you log out and back in, then suddenly it will jump up.

Perhaps other abilities are like this as well?

You can melee with a staff - the two button clonk, or on rare occasions you can hit "E" to impale. I'd like to just use it to smack people like Jakie Chan can.

Probably just worded poorly - I imagine it means any left click attacks (which are modified by stamina, and thus include bows and staves). Will be interested to see if people test it and what they find.

Judging by the tooltip of the skill and the rules of the mechanics my bets are on non-ranged stamina based attacks.
To succeed you must do the things that you think you cannot.

This is actually incorrect. Close ranged 'summon weapon' skills like searing strike, biting jabs, and veiled strike are considered melee in that they use physical crit, are mitigated by armour, and can proc 'melee strike' effects like red diamond. This was confirmed on the Tamriel Foundry forum.

I'd really like to know if this is the case.
Does anyone have any updated information on whether this passive affects the left-click attacks made with a Restoration Staff?
