How Many Crafts Are Ideal?

I really enjoy crafting and it's quite interesting that you can theoretically level as many as you want on one character in this game. I say theoretically because of the skill points crafts need after lvl 15. At some point, progressing in more crafts must start to seriously hamper your ability to progress in the rest of the game.

So how many crafting professions do you think it's feasible to have on one character and still be competitive for engame content? I suppose it depends somewhat on build (specialists might need fewer skill points to be viable than hybrids, for example) but I'm curious to hear what others are aiming for.

I've heard there are 300 skill points available in total, so assuming you got them all, would that be enough to unlock all abilities? If not, what percentage of them? It's difficult to estimate without knowing how many options to morph skills there are.

    I suppose it depends on what level you are.. at early levels skill points are scarce and I wouldn't try more than 2 crafts, but with 300+ skill points at end game I don't think it matters how many you do

    Maxed out all 3 class skill lines
    Maxed out racials
    Maxed out 3 crafts(except for keen eye)
    Maxed out 4 Weapons
    Maxed out 2 Amor sets
    Maxed out a PVP line(support)
    Maxed out Vampire
    Maxed out Fighters Guild

    As from this I maxed out EVERYTHING including abilities people are probably never gonna use. In actuality you can Master ALL crafts and with smart point allocation you can save yourself some points like skipping keen eye. You will still be able to make 2-3 strong builds or more depending on where you use your skill points. I recommend ESOHEAD.com skill calculator as it should ease your worries by seeing where you can put abilities.

    Early in the game I would start with 1 crafts being your mean gear you wear so you can craft it for yourself.

    That's very helpful, and it reassures me that starting a crafting profession early isn't a bad idea to help get great gear.

    i'm doing 4 crafting skills atm.
    clothing, blacksmith, woodworking and woodworking.
    only the actual crafting and research skills though, no hirelings, searching or whatnot.

    i'll probably drop it to 2 crafting styles after i get all research done.

    heavy armour one handed and shield users need two crafts. Anyone wearing medium armour needs two crafts (clothing and woodworking or smithy).

    Mages need two crafts as well....the only play style that can stick with one craft is heavy armour and two handed.

    My two handed medium armour character has no points in any crafts. I find plenty of iron for one weapon, i can not use keen eye on clothing for raw hide scraps.

    Enchantig: Im just collecting runes till it gets patched/fixed/adressed.

    Provisioning is at level 20 and no points invested.

    Alchemy: can be a life saviour, maybe invest 3-4 points in there for keen eye and adding a third ingredient.

    But all in all, i am putting more points into passives at level 12 character. Still can not decide which crafting to spent a point in...

    PS: No plans to use a shield or a bow at weapon swapping, sticking with two handed and 10 skills + 2 ultimates.

    mDKs still need a lot of love!

    ElMojito, what I mean by having to put a skill point in after 15 is that in order to make items from, say, the 2nd level metal you have to use a skill point. So yes, you can level the blacksmithing craft up past 15 without spending skill points but you can't make items above level 15 without spending them. The other craft lines have similar skill point requirements beyond a comparable point.
