Running on ultra high settings well

apriestleyb14_ESO
Never built my own pc before planning on building this one http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3fOzv. I am playing on a prebuilt laptop that can not run ultra high settings in this game for its life so I was wondering will this set up be able to run this game on ultra high settings without any type of lag or interference. Let me know how I can do it without increasing the price to much

Well you might not like my opinion but oh well. I would go with an i7 cpu, a gtx 760 sc, a 650 watt psu, an Intel SSD, and windows 7. I don't care what people say/fanboys, windows 8 is crap until they get some more updates for it...

If your going to game your going to have to spend some bucks otherwise your going to be very disappointed , just the facts of pc gaming...

Oh and get rid of that wifi adaptor and plug that sucker into Ethernet, you'll thank me for that too:)

Can you recommended a specific power supply, motherboard and SSD. Just move it around as you see fit http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3msCG

I'd slap a more powerfull PSU into it from the beginning, like Antec high-current 900W. It is not that much more expensive, but in the future you can upgrade your graphics card without any worries.

The GPU has only 1 GB and is no the TI version, that's not good enough for an MMO sadly.

My 6970 ATI runs the game on Ultra with max view distance, that's about the performance you will need to play as a minimum, maybe a 6950 is fine too if you don't go full HD.

If you are a fan of Nvidia, aim for the TI with 2 GB at least.

While AMD works well with GPU´s, their CPU´s are clearly behind Intel. My advice, a 2500 if you OC a 2500K.

You don't need a second windows either, if you phone Microsoft and tell them you want to install your current windows on your desktop, they will unlock it.

This is a system I put together in a few minutes, just an advice.

    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3mx2y

I added a working GPU to play on very high settings, a very reliable and stable 2500 intel, adjusted the Ram and Motherboard accordingly and swapped the case + added three fans which are not that loud.

Keep in mind this is only a recommendation, be sure to check shops for cheaper prices and non retail product´s (I like Asus, but some don't so I didn't know what you prefer), as I find some of the prices for the components a bit high. I build my own PC 3 years and 5 months ago, for 700 bucks it still runs all games on Ultra.

Its worth the money, don't hold 100 bucks back - you will regret it in a few months.

I should have mentioned this before but I know very little about pc's and pc parts im strictly finding my facts off other people and slight research,(don't even know what the gpu thing you mentioned above is so don't think im really a "fan" of anything because I have no experience with these things what so ever) but anyway he setup you gave me will also be reliable for other games like World of Warcraft, Skyrim, GTA, and other games? By the way im willing to spend a few extra bucks on some things that might make a big difference in performance such as the i7 cpu mentioned above instead if that will help a lot

The Core I7 is awesome and is worth every penny. GPU stands for Graphics Processing Unit. I will be switching to a core I7 first chance i get. i run a AMD 8 core at 3.5GHz. And i wasnt a fan either way i just wanted a good price for a good product. And i feel that i got it for the most part

That's a good card indeed, about 20 bucks more than the one I currently put in.

GPU is your graphics card ;)

I run Skyrim, WOW on ultra including some tweaks that make both games look a bit better, however they don't need much power from a system. ;)

With GTA I have no experience to be honest, but BF 3 runs on Ultra with my system I would say both games are probably quite even with what they need but this someone else will sure be able to tell you better, as I really lack the experience with GTA ;)

As for the I7 vs. I5... well right now you wont notice a big difference. I mean you will from your current system, but the performance boost from an I7 to an I5 is almost not noticeable in gaming.

I7 however is the future, while I 5 is the past so to speak, but CPU´s don't age that fast, its usually the GPU that is the limiting factor. One of the big pluses for the I7 is the power consumption. If not mistaken then this is almost 20W less than the I5.

K btw. indicates that the CPU has an open multiplication so that you can overclock (boost the performance) yourself. For you not necessary so go for the CPU without the K.

As for the graphics card, I prefer ATI - so I would agree with the guy above and go for the R9 270x, its probably one of the best cards right now based on money / performance value.

    http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3mzEs

With the changes made, but I repeat again make sure to consult someone at a hardware forum first, those people have a lot more time and can give you much more feedback than I can right now. They know the market inside out and might have some additional tips.
  • vengeful_batosai
you can buy an I5 and i bet it would run ESO on ultra with no issues as long as the rest of your comp is up to par. But Audigy is correct that the I7 is the future and the I5 time is almost past. But in the end of it all you should be able to run the I5 with no issues and save some money as well. Just remember the 4 basics of a gaming comp. CPU, GPU, PSU and RAM. someone will prolly slam me and say you didnt say MoBo or hard drive or others. to that i say i dont care lol
  • apriestleyb14_ESO
    ty for your help guys
  • vengeful_batosai
no worries man. You can never learn if you never ask
  • apriestleyb14_ESO
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3mzEs it says "In order to fit, the PowerColor Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card may require removing drive bays from the NZXT Source 220 ATX Mid Tower Case. The case only supports video cards up to 230mm in length without removing drive bays, while the video card is 254mm long" should I get a different case if so which one?
  • vengeful_batosai
so if you choose to get a new case do your research. i would never get a case that is smaller than a large and if you really want to make sure you have the room an XL will talk up a lot of room but it will do the job. But you cant go wrong with a Phanteks Enthoo primo case. all the space youll need. plus look awesome lol
  • apriestleyb14_ESO
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3mzEs Also why do I need 3 case fans?
